Does MFW-K include worksheets?

Bostonmom, you made me laugh when you said,

Also, one more question: my son loves to do worksheets...really, really loves it. Does MFWK have a worksheet component to keep him happy (I can't believe I just said that).

My 4 yo dd has enjoyed the worksheets more than my 6 yo K ds! MFWK has a worksheet for 5 days out of every 6 day long unit. But it's only one page, some days it's one side, other days it's two sides.

Day 1 - picture cards (color and cut out).
Day 2 - handwriting practice for the letter and number of the week and sound discrimination.
Day 3 - cut and paste (phonics) and math.
Day 4 - blend ladder word dictation and reading a word list.
Day 5 - drawing page and cut and paste, which later becomes a short story page that you make into a tiny reader.

It really was enough for my K ds, but he is not the worksheet lover. I hope that helps!

WORKBOOK

I'm wondering if the workbook is compose of blank pages or is there activities?

The Kindy student set consists of several items:
# Teaching charts
# Game cards
# Monthly calendars
# Short vowel song cards
# 100 chart for math
# and of course the workbook. It is an essential part of the program for the phonics, reading, and most language arts. You would miss a lot of the program without.

On most days of each lesson, you only do about 1 (sometimes 2) worksheet.

There are about 7 types of worksheets that you rotate through for each Alphabet/Science/Character integrated themed unit. All instructions for use of the worksheets are in the yellow pages of the K teacher's manual. So, for each each you will have a worksheet from the student workbook that has a

The basic set up of each K day for each of the alphabet units is to do the
*Math routine
*Phonics routines (instructions are the yellow pages)
*then do the Science/Character activities from that section.

Do the flashcards come with an activity sheet? Are the activities for learning the alphabet letters and sounds or for something else? I am trying to decide whether I need the flash cards or not. My ds already know letters and sounds.

The activities for learning letters and sounds and blending are in the teacher's manual. The flashcard activities are in several categories:
some for reading
sequencing
science
memory
art
and Just for fun

One of the flashcards is a card with extra activities. The extra activities on the flashcards are more designed for "science" and logical thinking skills.

The flashcards are quite helpful for having a visual in the science lessons as well as helping to decorate school room. Good for practicing sorting alphabetically. I've used them with 2 children who were ahead of the curve in reading skills. Glad I had them. My youngest daughter enjoyed having them mixed up and sorting them again. We liked having them to have a picture to trace for our Unit "badge" each week to match the Bible lesson.

Lots of good uses for them other than just to introduce letter and sounds.
