Hymns - Ideas for CTG?

Do you have a favorite CD you use or do you just sing acapella?

Hi Yvette,
You know, hymns are hard to match up in CTG because none of them were written yet! Here are a couple of ideas, in case no one chimes in with personal experience.

1. Just study some hymns. Here's a list I remember coming up with as far as hymns that I thought were *not* studied in Years 4 & 5, so you'd be "safe" covering them in other years.

2. Go through a different hymn book, such as Hymns for a Kid's Heart which I love (you might choose volume 2 or later, since volume 1 does have several hymns you'll study in Year 4).

3. Just do praise & worship type songs during your Bible time. Depending on how much your kids already get that at church, it can be nice to spend time focusing on the words, meaning etc. We still sing along to Ronnie Caldwell DVDs with our favorite books of the Bible song, and our theme song to kick off the summer was "Have Fun / Please God!"
Edited to add: I quickly dropped studying biographies of praise & worship song composers -- too many details about pre-Christian lives.

4. Learn some songs relating to the Old Testament. There are lots of books of the Bible songs, including the Ronnie Caldwell one we love :) I also posted a CD we used when learning the Kings of Israel and Judah.

5. General Jewish music would be great. Here's one we listened to:

Well, I've run out of ideas :) Enjoy your year!
