See if your library has Quarter Mile Math (ours does). If so, you could find out if your dc like it before you purchase it.

CTG book ideas
OK, we are so far ahead in our read-a-louds for CTG because my kids LOVE the Patricia St. John books. They can't get enough. I think on average I read 2-3 chapters a day (even on weekends)! Can anyone recommend any of her other books for our family? They are so sad we're about to finish our last on...

CTG Ten Commandments memorization
I wanted to share something that helped my dc memorize the Ten Commandments: http://www.livingwaters.com/downloads/10Commandments_forkids-FLIPCHART.pdf Both dc, as well as Mom, memorized all ten during CTG week 6. At first my 5th grader balked at the pictures, saying they were silly, but yesterday s...

Re: Latin & Greek Roots, plus Latin?
Posted: Wed Mar 12, 2008 4:54 pm Both of my dc are using Prima Latina this school year. They are strong readers, but the 1st grader is a bit pencil-phobic so I don't require her to do the student workbook. We will begin Latina Christiana I in the fall. I would like my dc to continue with Latin thro...

I read some messages on forums and it sounds like those ladies are doing a lot of combining of companies and subjects from a variety of suppliers. Some are using one this year and going back to another next year, or supplementing one with another etc etc. I'm trying to get away from that eclectic t...

My dd wanted to know more about Samuel Morris (we read about him in Hero Tales) so I got the Trailblazer book about him from the library. She was disappointed because the book did not focus on Samuel but rather on another person in his life. We both wish YWAM had written a biography about Samuel Mor...

Posted: Thu Jan 03, 2008 9:56 pm The Handbook of Nature Study may be helpful if you live in the eastern U.S. but may not help you identify local species if you live in other parts of the U.S. I recommend getting some field guides for your area -- birds, trees, plants, insects, whatever. You should ...

Posted: Tue Jan 01, 2008 11:05 am Another thought -- if your parents or dh's parents live nearby -- would they be willing to do the library runs? My parents live nearby; Dad has a card in another library district. He lets me use it and he does more than half of the pickup/returns. I've got book bas...

Favorite additional resources for ECC
Well I am so excited about the new year with MFW. My question is did you add anything that you really enjoyed. I have looked at the Global Puzzle, The Take Off game, World Geography Songs cd, Children's World Cookbook etc. I just don't want to purchase alot of extra things we don't need. Blessings,...

Last year my dd had lower scores on the computation part compared to the concepts/problem solving scores. I added daily practice and her scores increased this year. But they still didn't catch up to her concepts/problem solving scores. I don't think Singapore students generally test low. I think som...
