Re: 2014-2015 Roll Call
I'm Lisa and we We have two children. Our daughter will be a 10th grader and has been homeschooled since 1st grade. Our son will be a freshman in college this fall and was homeschooled at different points along the way. The Lord led us to My Father's World when my daughter was a 3rd grader. We have ...

Re: Pencil grip
First let me encourage you! My daughter is a lefty and started off with a terrible grip - and it was difficult to help her because I am right handed. A friend who is an occupational therapist gave us a "start right" pencil grip http://www.therapro.com/Start-Right-Pencil-Grip-P4346.aspx . It took som...

Re: OT- student desks?
We will start school September 1 so I am attempting to get our school area ready - which will consist of a folding table (probably 2x4) for my daughter to use. We are putting plexiglass on top for a smooth surface. She is artsy-craftsy and is very excited to not only have a "desk" but an area to spr...

Re: WHL book rec
Thanks for all the replies! Julie - I hadn't thought about looking in the 1850-Mod archives! Lots of great info on this time period (and a heads-up for me since my dd will be doing this next semester!). I'm going to look at some of the recommendations at the library. I actually have the Focus on the...

WHL-Experiencing God Hello parents who have done, begun, or thought through their student's work with the Experiencing God study. I have been struggling with the issue of wishing my daughter had someone who's going through this study also to discuss it with her and for encouragement. I am feeling t...

Daily Lesson Plans
Was wondering if the MFW Daily Lesson Plans for Apologia Science and Saxon math are the same type of thing as the daily lesson plans for Singapore math. Are they just what to cover each day or is there more to them? Can they be purchased seperately if I find they are needed? Thanks Shannon Hi! Yes,...

Re: General Science qtn.
Thanks everyone! After some research, I am considering doing General Science over 7th and 8th grade. We are moving to Maine, and they only require 3 years of Science with "environmental science" as a choice - which I will confirm whether or not physical science is a match. Re: Saxon Teacher dvd vs. Dive cd
Thanks for all the replies! My son is "used to" the format of the DIVE cd - so we ordered that - but I wanted to have a backup option for when the DIVE cd doesn't explain it well enough. Well, we have ended up with every available resource except another live human being. DIVE cds, Saxon Teacher dvd...

great start with Explorers-1850!
Wow! Each year just gets better!
We are LOVING the in-depth study of James using "Boy Have I Got Problems!" --- my 11 year old daughter is soaking it all in (we both are) and have already gleaned much in just four days. Thank you to the Hazell's for the GIFT of My Father's World curriculum!

Re: Which MFW Program Do You Like Best?
We were already in our second year of homeschooling before God showed me MFW. I have many, many testimonies of how God brought MFW to us and confirmed over and over again that we were to use the curriculum. With that said, ECC is my favorite!!! It was our first year in MFW - at the beginning of the ...

Julie, the ideas in CtG are what we've been using til now. She loves playing Memory...there are just "so many" cards now
I think we may do some mini games of it and divide up the cards. Thanks!

Re: Have any of you read these and what did you think?
Tirzah By Lucille Travis
Hittite Warrior By Joanne Williamson
The Golden Goblet By Eloise Jarvis Mcgraw
We read all three of the above and they were WONDERFUL!!
They complement CtG very nicely - and are rich with meaning. I loved them as much as the kids did!

Hittite Warrior is mentioned in the list of additional resources and I highly recommend it. My daughter (4th grade) enjoys coloring, so sometimes I let her color Edupress' Color and Learn books - Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece to add to our notebook. CtoG is rich. I recommend following the lesson...

Trailblazer books
Hi! In ECC, we did YWAM books as read alouds, and my 3rd grader read a couple of the Trailblazer ones on her own for free reading. However you want to do it is great - but I don't recommend skipping the YWAM books --- they are GREAT!Hebronmommy wrote:Has anyone used the Trailblazer books?

ECC inspires family mission trip
Hi Everyone - I just wanted to share that our family was able to go on a missions trip recently to Central America.
