Re: Saxon vs Teaching Textbooks?

I have used TT 7 and then moved Sky into Saxon 7/6 with the Teacher cds. She much prefers Saxon and we plan to stick with Saxon through highschool.

Re: Adventures AND Exploration to 1850's?

I wanted to do both but now, 7 weeks into EXP-1850's I am very glad I didn't attempt it. I love having the girls together, things are going great and I don't feel like my 2nd grader is missing anything. :)

Considering MFW

Hi everyone! I'm Amy...I have 5 kids. 13ds, 6dd, 5ds, twin 1dd. We have been using Ambleside Online, and we enjoy it. We love reading wonderful books. The oldest child will continue with AO, it works well for him, and he wouldn't be doing the same as the others anyway. As my 3 youngest get older (a...

Right now our living room is a combined schoolroom. It looks similar to Lisa's pics but instead of a table and chairs we have a couch. My girls each have their own school desks. They use them to keep their current work in. Most of the time we do our bible and reading on the couch. The girls move to ...

Our library allows us to call in and renew our books, I think twice, which would allow me 6 weeks with the books and no fines. I have been there, you are not alone, its a discipline that is for sure. This year I was blessed to find a *lot* of book baskets for sale used. I think I paid $200 for books...

EX1850 - Read aloud books

We just finished the book Almost Home from the Daughters of the Faith Series, A Story Based on the Life of the Mayflower's Mary Chilton. It was awesome and really enhanced our depth of understanding for what the Pilgrims went through. It gives you such a great appreciation for what others went throu...

Leah, I haven't read all the other replies but thought I would share a small bit of our story. I have homeschooled the last 7 years. My oldest graduated this year in May. My then 6th and 1st grader had simply worn me out. I also wasn't putting MY all into our homeschool. I felt so burnt out and thou...

Our church is actually a drop for Operation Christmas Child so that will definitely be a great three days spent! In Children's Church the kids get tickets that they spend or save, we have a store that they can buy from. Today was the day that they were only allowed to buy something for the Operation...

Blessed, now this is just my opinion, not worth much since I haven't done ECC but if I knew a few years back what I know now, I would have used ECC and cycled through. My oldest dd started EXP-1850 in Oct this year in 7th and will do 1850-Modern for 8th but then we'll be looking at highschool so she...

Sharing the idea of "giving" with our children

Wednesday and Thursday we talked about My Father's World and their ministry God's Word for the Nations and how I feel led to give to the ministry. We discussed how people didn't have God's word, the bible printed in their own language ect...We ran into a wall with my youngest Meadow. She just though...

Week 3 ending Exp-1850

What another great week. Sticking pretty well to schedule, getting up, seeking God, eating breakfast, hymn, bible and then history, music and art. We do all of this together and then split for the work that is done separately and its working so well for us. Our wigwams turned out beautifully! Dh was...

We are moving right along

We have just begun week two today. It took us a bit to get through week one, mostly due to things popping up, but we are moving along and having full satisfying homeschooling days. The hymns are really growing on the girls and I find they are learning the words and singing through out the day. :) I ...
