Re: Family devotional
Have you ever tried any of Marty Machowski's devotionals? One reads a passage from the Bible, a synopsis of what was read, and then there are some questions afterward for the family to discuss. He has one on the Old Testament, New Testament, Proverbs, and Theology that I can think of at the moment.

Re: Do I really need the teacher's guide for Writing with Sk
I believe that's the one I got. My order is in the US until relatives bring it to Canada so I can't check it right now. :o( I'll have to get them to check it for me to make sure I got the right product.

2nd Grader - Stretching out ECC for oldest
Placement Help So I was an over eager first time homeschool mom and started my daughter in MFW K when she was 4.5. We did the 1st grade this year when she was 5. She did great...ran into some complaining in mid year but she kept up with the lessons with no problem. I'm so impressed with her reading...

Re: A Few Questions Regarding 1st grade
Organization - I would just organize it by week. I have done this using a binder as well as file folders. The binder or file folders will work for organizing future years as well. I prefer the file folders now because I have to prep materials for three homeschoolers (eventually four). I'm not sure h...

Why can't I find any long term MFW users?
When I search and seek out the curriculum that I'm looking for, MFW and HOD usually pop up. The problem is, I find HOD lovers everywhere. I hear about their passion, devotion and all out love for the curriculum. They rave and rave about it... and never desire to try something else. We've used the f...

Re: Starting K at a younger age?
I did K with a little one that turned 4 in October quite a few years ago. My daughter did very well with K even though she was young. She was ready. She sailed through 1st and ADV with no problem too. We ended up slowing down when we hit ECC as the work load was too much for her. We did it over two ...

Re: Order extra 1st grade student sheets for younger child?
I don't think I would order 1st grade sheets for a younger sibling. I find a lot of the sheets pertain to the reading lessons in first. I would look for something else to give a younger sibling. I have heard some recommend a set that Rod and Staff has for preschoolers maybe that would be a good star...

Help with Dick/Jane writing - exercise 4
My dd11 is working through WS3. She is on exercise 4: Description of a friend. She chose to write about her sister. Background: She was ps'd midway through 5th grade. She has been hs a year and we did very little writing last year, to be honest because she was so resistant and I was new at teaching...

Reading history to capable kids
As I am gearing up for school I am continually pondering the reading of history texts to my oldest. He can easily read them to himself. Has this been a issue for you or a struggle? Any counsel? Re: What does a day look like teaching two different grades?
I am juggling three doing MFW right now. My oldest works fairly independently. However, there is some work she needs help with. So, she dives into doing whatever she can do without me while I help my Ker or daughter doing 1st. After their work is done or they are working on their own, I work with my...

Re: Ideas Needed: Organizing
I am running three of MFW's programs right now. What helps me is having a shelf from Ikea that has cubby holes (for lack of a better term). I have the various years of curriculum in their own cubby hole/box. It makes it easy for me to locate a given year's books when I need them. So far, I have K to...

A few final questions before hitting "place order" butto
How much adding to the program do you all do? I really want to just get MFW and trust the whole program without adding much. How many people do that and were you happy? It would be such a peace of mind to order and not feel like I need to go adding to it. There are only a couple of things I am thin...

If you have made the African bowls (with material a glue and water mixture), you can fill the bowls with sweet treats, wrap it in cellophane, and add a bow (two of mine made galimoto girls to attach to their gifts).
