On crazy busy days, I have my 11yo son do just a few subjects. Maybe just English and science, maybe only MFW, maybe math and catching up on a project or paper... Just do *something*- move forward even if it is only a little bit. We aren't confined to the public school calendar, so do what works for...

Typing is a GREAT idea. He has really good computer skills, and would probably resist typing less than writing. Maybe I'll let him alternate between the two so he still gets handwriting practice. My 11yo son's thoughts on home school this year

I sat down my son yesterday for a chat. I wanted his input on how he feels about various subjects and school in general to see if any routines or expectations need to be revised. His responses SHOCKED me. Moral of the story - it's amazing what you can find out from your kids if you just ask. :) MFW ...
