Re: MFW 1st day 36 and having problems
Hey there! Just agreeing with Crystal on this one. The phonics games and starfall dot com helped my ds a ton! Plus, it made phonics a bit more fun! Also... read, read, read together! Grab lots of books from the library or your bookshelf and read...the same books over and over and over. It was a bit ...

Here is the kicker... he is completely an auditory learner...go figure ?? He will easily memorize anything he hears in a song, ...

Re: Can someone explain K badges?
We are not very skilled at drawing around here so this is what I did: 1.I made a file in my word processor titled "words to remember" 2. then my son and I would find clip art to go with each weeks lesson (word has a bunch of clip art with the letter and the same pic as we needed...praise God!) 3. we...

Math facts yet again!
For teaching math facts in 1st grade, we start with number 3 and end with number 18. What do the math facts for 3 look like? Is it: 3 + 0=3, 3 + 1= 4, 3 + 2=5, etc. up through 3 + 9+12? Why don't we teach the math facts for 1 or 2? And what would the math facts for 18 look like? Thanks for any help...

Posted: Tue Mar 25, 2008 3:53 pm We are only on lesson 38 in MFW 1st but with that said my ds6 is doing very well with it. I like the fact that it is a spiral approach so that he isn't getting frustrated with drilling over and over but we consistently review. One thing I did learn the hard way was ...

Posted: Fri Sep 28, 2007 12:58 pm Well... I do have a ds who does not like to write much. I usually let him have a break and tell him we will come back to it later when he is not frustrated. It works really well for us as long as I make sure I stick to my word and we do come back to it later that d...

There are many things she could do that would serve her well both as a single and a married woman. Any skill she can become good enough in to t...

Crystal, That is exactly what I want to do with her...have her learn what I do around here alongside her "school" work. I think I will chart her hours, etc. so I can count it as a high school credit. Thanks for taking the time to be a help to so many of us on the board...even if you are avoiding tax...

Readiness for K - What age did you start?
I started my ds as soon as he turned 5 and taught it over an entire calander year due to long breaks here and there. He really enjoyed starting 1st right after he turned 6 but we are blessed to live in MI so we have no requirements at to school days, hours, etc.lyntley wrote:What age did you start your K'ers?
