Re: Physcial Science count as a lab science?

We don't really have a target college but I think a few of the universities in our state only require 1 lab science. We are doing Biology as our lab science and then will probably either do Friendly Chemistry next year or have her do chem at the local community college and get that lab out of the wa...

feeling a bit overwhelmed and discouraged...advice??

I've been feeling a little in over my head the last year. This fall I will be homeschooling 10th, 9th, 7th, 6th, 3rd and I have an almost 2 yr old. My older 2 will still require a good bit of my time, especially with math and science (will be finishing up biology with my oldest-she is VERY behind in...

Beginning the 5 yr a year late, what do I choose next?

We are beginning homeschoolers this year. 5th Grade, and we are starting with ECC this year. So, that will leave us with 3 more years to do the program before high school. It looks like we need to do both of the last 2, as they have continued state studies. How do we choose between Creation to the ...

Re: Beginning Spelling Power again

You could start where you left off, or use the first days-1 week to go over words that we missed in the last level you were on-thats what we did.

Re: Done by Noon??

We start at 930 or 10 and are done by noon pretty much everyday. We save the read alouds for after lunch though. I am doing ECC w/ my almost 10yr old, 8.5yr old and almost 7 yr old, and my 5yr old sits in on a lot too (she does phonics and handwriting as well). I also have a 2yr old boy thrown in th...

Re: Starting to feel overwhelmed...

Oh my goodness Miranda, we JUST had a morning like that this morning! I was ready to start reading Hero Tails and then it was 'oh wait I need to go pee pee', so that child come back, then 'oh, hold on I gotta sharpen my pencil', 'oh wait, I need to get a drink of water'...'oh since she sharpened her...

Re: Starting to feel overwhelmed...

(((HUGS))) Miranda! Could it be the 3R's stuff you are using? I can get almost all our schooling done from 10-12noon. The afternoon is usually saved for our read aloud (Kingdom Tales) and for art if there is an art project scheduled that day. I have schedule that I use for my kiddos and school, woul...

Re: Science in ECC... 8yo

Crystal, you are AMAZING!!! She is TOTALLY going to get that =) My 3 that are doing ECC are 9.5, 8 and 6.5. The 6.5 yr old is doing fine with it actually. I just read it aloud and then afterwards I explain what they need to know. Hopefully 8yr old will mature a little over the next few months and be...

Re: Weeks 1-2 Introduction

I found a great book to go along with the Science in the first 2 weeks, its called 'Biomes and Ecosystems' and goes along PERFECTLY with the science. I would say its for advanced 8yr olds (reading wise) or above.

Re: ?? about the worms in ECC wk 1 - Success!

Postby rawbanana » Fri Jul 09, 2010 7:03 pm I blogged about our experiences! I thought the worms would be easy-peasy to find, but nope, they wanted to see me sweat *whew* Each of my 4 girls did a worm jar, and I found, I think 4 worms per jar. We did put a *little* more dirt on top of the works aft...

Re: How do you deal w/ a perfectionist??

Thanks for that link! [above] We did have a bit of a talk with her last night about perfectionism. Also, today, when I read school, for some things, I didnt let her follow along and just read it to a level I knew she could 'get'. She read Window on the World over my shoulder and before we started sh...
