Apologia Physical Science question - Notebook?

I'm planning to purchase Apologia Physical Science with my 8th grader next year. I'm wondering if anyone has purchased and used the Student Notebook along with this? I know MFW doesn't sell it and that it's optional. I'm just thinking it might be helpful to keep my son organized and on track for an...

Re: Progeny Press Study Guides

Hi! My 7th grader uses IEW and completed one PP lit guide. I don't feel it was overwhelming, but she is an avid reader. Some of the PP ( like story questions) can also be done orally if too much writing is an issue :) She only did the one this year being our first year of doing any kind of lit analy...

Singapore question

I will be ordering ECC and K. I have decided to follow MFW recommendations in language arts after much prayer, the helpful responses I received on here, and an extremely helpful and encouraging conversation with Lucy. I am also very strongly considering switching to Singapore for my daughters, agai...

Re: spelling curriculum suggestions

I like Spelling power. It worked great for my oldest who is a naturally good speller, but my younger daughter ( 8 at the time) didn't do very well with it. This year we are using the Megawords spelling curriculum.

Re: My daughter wants to go to public school... :-(

First, of course, you must pray and seek God's direction. If you are then not at peace with the public school option, I would encourage you to give the co op a try. You mentioned your daughter feels left out when talking to her public school friends. I think any 12 y/o girl in that situation would f...

Re: Science

My 7 th grader is also transitioning into Apologia very nicely, after I stressed all summer about how difficult it would be for her, and , I assumed, for me; she has never been a very independent worker and Apologia is quite a jump in difficulty level from previously. Well, we are 3 weeks into it an...

Re: Testing and Placement

It's very easy to get consumed with placement test results and comparing one program to another. I have done it myself. But a placement test for a particular curriculum is just that.. A placement test. It is not an accurates assessment of what the child knows. And each curriculum placement test will...

Re: 7th grade science

Jen, I do not have any advice but I am in the same boat ....I have an upcoming 7th grader who I don't feel is ready for the General science load (seems a lot more than what we are used to) but I am trusting it will all go well. I really appreciate the tips Crystal gave and will definitely be putting...

Re: Exploring Countries and Cultures -- Share Your Experienc

Last year was our first year homeschooling so a lot of research, prayer and thought went into choosing a curriculum for my formerly private schooled fifth grader. While she excelled with the well known private school curriculum at school, I knew with her personality and learning style, it would not ...
