Progeny Press-Grading?
My ds is going to be in 7th grade this year. He would much rather type on the computer than write in a book, so I am going to get the interactive CD-Roms that Progeny Press sells. How do I evaluate his work? How have others handled this? :~ I know there is an answer key that comes with the CD (we d...

Re: General Ideas for ECC
I stumbled upon this today and thought it might be helpful to those using ECC. We're just wrapping up our year, but I'm going to make note of the site when we roll back around to it. Might be some fun summer activities when I hear those famous words, "I'm bored Mom" since it will be things that are ...

Re: Where to get a Magnifying glass?
I got a nice one at Joann's Fabric - it was in the notions dept, but I'm sure someone there would help you find one. It was pretty inexpensive too. They were BOGO when I got mine so I got two since I have four children.

Re: Just placed my order for our 4th year with MFW
That is soooo awesome! MFW has been such a blessing to us this year too (our first year homeschooling). My only regret, that we didn't start homeschooling from the start. My oldest is going to be in 8th next year and I sure wish we could complete the entire cycle together instead of her starting hig...

Re: Sample schedules? Using MFWK and ECC....
We're just finishing up that same schedule this year. We actually finished K in March, but here is what I have done. Bear in mind I'm not sure if this is ideal, but it's our first year hs'ing and it has worked out pretty well for us. 8:30am - all together for morning devotional and prayer; we also r...

Re: OT-Has anyone used 'Christian Missionaries to Know Lapbo
Currclick.com doesn't have any sample pages available to view and I was just wondering if it was a good, easy to use lapbook. I think I've decided to wait and possibly use it our next go around with my dd and ECC in a few years. Thanks for the replies ladies. :) You can see a sample on the Hands of...

Re: #25 - Quail
I found a fun book my son really liked at our library called True or False Birds by Melvin & Gilda Berger (ISBN# 978-0-545-20203-9). It is published by Scholastic and it just a fun true or false book with lots of great information about birds.

Re: Country Summary Sheet -- ECC Help!
My daughter has been using a program that is available through our library's website called CultureGrams. http://www.culturegrams.com/products/onlineedition.htm It has very helpful and is updated annually. Our library's website has several versions of it available - a world edition, kids edition, St...

Re: Tell me about Spelling Power
I just have to say I LOVE Spelling Power! Actually my kids do for the most part too. It's so easy to incorporate into the day and is not teacher intensive at all. Trish summed it up perfectly, however I do actually go until they miss 5 words, because I read that when I started.

Re: Book Baskets...
We have actual baskets. I don't take them to the library, I use a reusable grocery bag for that. I have one basket for ECC (tho it's always overflowing), one for K, and then one for other library books my children or I have decided to bring home. Once we're finished with the books, they go back into...

Re: # 4 - Apple
My MIL recently found a perfect book for 'Aa Apple' at a yard sale. It is called 3 in 1: A Picture of God . I read it to my son this morning and it's so awesome! They have it on Amazon, but you might check your local library too. 3 in 1: A Picture of God, Joanne Marxhausen (Author), Ed Koehler (Illu...

Re: Weeks 3-4 United States
I checked a book out of the library called I Pledge Allegiance by Michael Sampson for this unit ( http://www.amazon.com/Pledge-Allegiance-Bill-Martin-Jr/dp/0763625272/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top ). Inside the front cover is a cool American flag that was made with torn pieces of construction paper. I'm ...
