Re: New Badges in Kindergarden

I did the same as fdjoyce, saved the reg. tag holders from convention. My three boys accumulated them each week and even used them like trading cards ;-) It was also how they "checked in" for school, they wore them until all activities were complete and they could then "check out" by hanging them on...

Re: Supplementing MFW 1 with R&S ???

Just want to share. There's a used book store in our town and I get a few of the Abeka readers for my son from there. They are always at least 1/2 the original price no matter the condition. We've gotten some Brand New books that way. Next time I go I'll have to look for Pathway Readers. I can't go ...

Re: What to do during a 5 month gap?

For Bible:
You could get the FREE devotional from Keys For Kids or take a look at Wonderzone (We LOVE them!)

Geography:
Timberdoodle has a Really Nice daily geography book with beginning map skills. I think it's in their 1st grade curr. package.

Re: What 2 or 3 things has made your home school successful?

Remembering to stay hydrated, so that my throat doesn't get dry from all the Read Alouds ;-) Oh! & things flow better when I "take it slow." Not pushing Full Steam Ahead. Plus, helping my children "see" a list of what we do for the day & checking each thing off. Like: Bible, Math, Handwriting, THEN ...

Re: I think I have a problem.....

We won't start ECC until January and I can hardly wait!
It's taking me GREAT resolve to NOT place my order, even at our conference, just so not to be distracted.

Re: Q about the math in Kindergarten?

I tore out the pages also. But, I made copies so that each sheet (front & back) had both pages for the same letter. Doing the same letter as the theme. . My twins do SmartAlec PreK problem solving books. Only like 1 page per day. Takes @ 2mins. While I'm working with one twin in SmartAlec, the other...

MFW K accelerated pace... am I doing the right thing?

Hi! I'm new to MFW and I have a dd who just turned 5, so this fall would be the start of her "official" kindergarten year. I also have a VERY active 3 yo ds and a baby due in August. After searching the boards and calling the office, I decided to start with MFW K a few weeks ago even though my daug...

ECC or Adventures for 3rd grader

I am trying to figure out where the best placement would be for my ds who will be in 3rd grade this August. While I love HOD, the readings are just too short and not enough time for for my youngest child to use his visual/spatial skills to really grasp the lessons - just as I'm finishing the readin...

Re: So FRUSTRATED

Just want to say: I get Overly Frustrated with at least one of my children Almost EVERY Day! But, I wrote this on my facebook last week to help me remember: Some people say: "I could never home school. I'm not organized enough. I'm not disciplined enough. My children wouldn't listen to me." Then, I ...
