Re: Preschool box ideas

Oooh! I love this thread! I have a 3 yo dd who is very busy. I did buy her 4 of the Kumon books, and she loves to play with her doll house and her "girls" as she calls them. But I am always glad to learn of more fun, easy ways to keep little hands busy. Keep the ideas acomin' . Oh, one thing that we...

Re: Multi Level Teaching - Tell me I can do this!

Melissa, Thank you for your kind words. I really appreciate your sharing that I was encouraging to you. Wow, isn't it amazing how God can use our weaknesses to help others. Blows me away! As for doing MFW K with my 6yo-I would if it weren't the middle of the year and if we hadn't started with someth...

Re: Multi Level Teaching - Tell me I can do this!

Thanks Julie and Jen. Your replies are so kind and encouraging. I think this is going to take an adjustment period, but I don't want to give up like I did the last time I tried multi level teaching with my kids. That's why I'm so glad that you all are here to walk me through this and let me bounce m...

Re: Multi Level Teaching - Tell me I can do this!

Thanks everyone for your replies and your encouragment. :) I don't think it's so much the materials as is it is me. I am just having a hard time getting used to the multi age teaching style. I used to teach in a classroom of 30+ first graders, and we taught to their specific comprehension and abilit...

Re: what end of the year test?

We have used the CAT test through Seton before, but this year I am considering using Christian Liberty Press's testing services. They have digitized the CAT test so you can do it right on the computer. The digitized version is $30 and the paper version is $25. Just another option. ;)

early chapter book ideas

Hello! I am trying to help my daughter find more reading material that is appropriate for her reading level. She just turned 8 and is in 2nd grade and reads well. She has read some Magic Tree House books, Amelia Bedelia, some of the chapter books based on the Little House series, Junie B. Jones, an...

Christmas in North Carolina Comes Early!!

Hello All, My Christmas present came in a brown box yesterday, and it was full of beautiful new books, a manual, students' pages, stickers, and passports. Can you guess what it was? Yeah for me! I got MFW ECC! I am excited and so are the kids. We can't start until January, but I will be looking thin...

Re: Order of MFW History?

Thanks, ladies, for your responses. That helps to know that there will be things that he will enjoy participating in. I wish that I had started the school year with MFW first grade instead of our current program, but God knows. I don't want to switch everything up at this point for him. He's really ...

Re: reading fluency??

Just wanted to say that I have 5 children and although boys TEND to be slower to reach the fluent reading stage, it is really not always a gender issue. My oldest who is a girl learned to read fluently at the age and time that she is supposed to ( by normal school standards), my next one, who is a b...

Re: New to MFW - Concerns & Questions

Postby booklovermom25 » Sun Sep 05, 2010 7:55 pm Thank you all for your replies. I appreciate your taking the time to answer. Edie, I know exactly what you are talking about with classroom management. I taught school for 3 years before I had children, so I understand and try to apply the kinds of th...
