Re: Lay Down Your Burdens -- Minutes with Marie

Hi Marie, I had to thank you for posting this. I have been praying for some time about our upcoming year, and last week when I was reading Jesus Calling, the devotional covered Matthew 11:28-30: 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you an...

Re: Abeka/MFW comparison

Would it make your dh feel better if you used ABeka for part of your children's education? If you used ABeka for Math and Grammar/Writing/Spelling, and used MFW for Bible, History, and Science, using the lit list to round out their language arts. MFW has suggestions on what to use for LA and Math, ...

Re: Shorter CM lessons in MFW?

The word "savoring" comes to mind. When you read shorter passages, you tend to internalize them more and you have time to really ponder them long after you've finished actually reading. She read Henry Huggins on her own this summer, but either substitutes the little words or just skips them when she reads aloud to me. I've been assuming it is because she is trying to get to harder words, and this thr...

Re: How do you keep up on school and house work??

I have two friends using MFW who school Mon. - Thurs. and take every Fri. off (except for field trips that fall on that day) to do housework. They end up schooling from July - June with only a few weeks off for the summer, but that schedule really works for them and they say it saves their sanity. T...

Re: Teaching an only child?

Hi, We've struggled with infertility as well, and are now blessed with two precious girls. We're left wondering what God's plan is for our future. We have come to realize we just have to trust that it is good. Jer 29:11 I don't have any advice for homeschooling onlies but wanted to mention a ministr...
