Re: How to store preK activity cards?

I got an inexpensive, plastic 4x6 index card box (similar to this one, but I chose one with color (http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/196592/Innovative-Storage-Designs-Plastic-Card-File/). I also made dividers to separate each activity. (I cut out each item's name and picture from the MFW catalog...

Re: Probably coming back to MFW...Need some suggestions

Thanks, Jen. We actually have the books to both series. My son and daughter both enjoyed them! I might try some of the Douglas Bond books; they look good, too.

Re: Probably coming back to MFW...Need some suggestions

Thanks, Julie. You were right in wondering about my daughters interest. It really is just the whole knights/castles portion. I remember when I first checked out the scope and sequence of RTR I thought that she would probably be disappointed that it would take awhile to get to the period of the knigh...

Re: Science Question

Crystal, I'm not part of an umbrella school, so I don't have to worry about that. Hmmm...still thinking. I think part of me worries about cost (2 Sci programs in one year), especially now that we're ordering both AHL and CTG this year, plus Spanish. Biology seems to warrant more "extras," (microscop...

Re: Science Question

Thanks, Julie. I didn't really think about the long wait until fall with "no" science. So, if he starts Physical Science now (end of 8th) and completes it by the end of the this year (somewhere in the first semester of 9th grade), do I count it as high school credit? Or is that totally up to me? Fee...

Re: Big Families using MFW?

Hi! I've got a big family (8 and 1 on the way), and this past year we used ECC and K (now we're still doing ECC and 1st and will add K later...just kinda how our year went). Anyway, I used to use textbooks, too, but it just got old (read the pages, answer the questions, take the test, etc.). Plus, I...

Re: Basic VS. Deluxe Package

I bought their workshop set when I ordered ECC last year; love them! I actually just re-listened to one today! They are so encouraging; I highly recommend them. BTW, at the conference they'll also have old cds of past David Hazell workshops. You can also order them off Ocean's website anytime. Ok, I...

Preschool or K for my son? HELP!

My DS will be 4 in July. He knows all his letters and sounds they make. He knows is numbers and can count to 20. He knows all his shapes and colors. He can do very simple addition and subtraction. He can write his name and his sisters name with out having to trace or copy it. I know he is young, bu...

Re: Basic VS. Deluxe Package

Thank you for your input! It looks like getting the deluxe package would be beneficial, if it's possible... today I decided I've just got to trust God to provide for everything, rather than worrying on my own limitations. :) Funny how I always seem to forget that He provides just the right thing at...

Re: planning ahead... what to buy?

One other thing to throw in the mix of what to buy is what you need in order to store/organize your student sheets. I just put each child's student sheets for the year in their own file folder, and then I have a separate file folder for each child to hold the current week's student sheets. I keep al...

new to MFW

I wish I could see different programs laid out in front of me, and decide which to use that way. We do have a homeschooling convention in June, but I don't know if we have the finances for the conference, as well as lodging and food. I've never been to a home school convention, so I don't know if I...

Help! How do I do this? (Teaching him to hold his penci

My oldest son is almost 5.5 years old. We started K in December only to discover it was a little too early for him. So, I have backed off. We are still trying to do some type of "school" activity several days a week. Included in that, I am trying to include a lot of fine motor skill activities for ...
