Really enjoying the variety
This year, we are really enjoying the variety of books in both History and Science. This whole time period was a gap in my personal education, so I'm having a blast learning along with the kids. We are in week 15 and just finished Twice Freed today. I could barely read the last chapter through my te...

After Galen chapter
maybe a trite question...

Hi, I looked for it too and never found it, so I skipped it.thelapps wrote:I am wondering why the last chapter of Galen (After Galen) is not in the schedule. Do you just do with it as you wish or am I missing the assignment somewhere? I have a first edition manual. Thank you!

Re: Spelling - we have not yet begun
While I'm being a big ol complainer I want to complain about the author for one second (no, I am not perfect, but I still want to complain!) - she talks about how EASY this program is, but then she explains and explains and OVER EXPLAINS how to USE her program, so much that it is CONFUSING. If the ...

RtR Roman Arch
We did the Roman Arch activity today and it turned out well after a couple attempts. We had to hold the pudding boxes in place and then scootch the cans(columns) slowly toward the center, then they held on their own. We did not put sandpaper on the boxes. The coin bridge activity also was fun. We we...

Re: Do your kids like Kingdom Tales in ECC?
My kids loved it. They were 8 and 11 when we read it. However, I recall it took us a few chapters to get into it.

Re: Praises
Nothing better than having your child eager for school the next day is there! :) We had the same experience last year with ECC. My struggling learner not only quit fighting schoolwork, but actually loved school when we did ECC. And both of them are still loving it. Just yesterday they pulled out the...

Re: Just ordered CtG!!
We're on week 17 and love it too. Love how the Bible is read daily and how the Journey book fills in the picture of the places and people of the Bible. We would never have studied Classical music on our own, but we are finding that we enjoy the CDs. And we enjoy the Genesis 4 Kids book too. My child...

Re: Roll call for C to G
Sharon, I agree with Crystal that the feasts are not the heart of CTG. Thank you for your response to my post. I'm feeling good heading into Sukkoth. I read the chapter on it this morning and I know my kids are going to be excited to build and decorate the booth. We have pieces of lattice leftover ...

Re: Roll call for C to G
Thanks Crystal for those thread links. Your ideas are setting me free. It's good to know that I'm not missing the heart of CtG. I really do love MFW - it has completely changed my homeschool for the better. I've also several friends using it this year after I showed them the ECC curriculum and told ...

Book of Animals for ECC
Are we going to be missing out on something great if my dd8 does not read this? I can not wait to get ECC (hopefully this week!) We have successfully used MFW K, 1st and just completed Adv. It seems like there is so much packed into ECC that it won't be a big deal if we don't have Book of Animals.....

Re: ECC - how long....?
I feel the same way that we get through rather quick...no complaints here :0) :-) No complaints here either! I love how doable it is for us. Yes, about an hour here too without the advanced Science portion. POE takes the longest for us because of all the vocabulary in it and filling out the noteboo...

Re: Having trouble with motivation
Hi, I'm sorry you're having a hard time right now. A few years ago, I went through a period similar to what you describe. I would feel guilty and bad that I wasn't schooling my children and I spent all my time thinking about how guilty and bad I felt. Here's a couple things that I did that helped me...

Re: Kingdom Tales - you could have warned me
I ran and grabbed our copy to show her. She's decided they need to read this book. ;) Yep, my best friend was over yesterday and after I showed it to her, she is getting it for her family too. She's not an MFW user either so it's fun getting to share these new-found treasures. My mom stayed with us...

Re: Kingdom Tales - you could have warned me
Good to know there's more crying ahead! I'll make sure to have my tissues handy. :) The line that got me was when the King whispered, "Don't leave me, Amanda. We've all been so lonely without you." So personal. He didn't say don't leave us, he said don't leave me. *tears* Dragon eggs led to a great ...

Re: Split week
I hope I'm not comming across wrong and that you feel the loving care in this post. We homeschool moms have so much to balance and think about and do, that I hate to see people derail over the little things. It'll be OK, Really :) I feel the care and wisdom of what you're saying. Thanks for the rea...

Re: Split week
Even though I can't figure out my own problem, I have some thoughts about your situation! lol That's so me! lol . I figure out others before I can make sense of mine. :-) As for your suggestion, I will take a look and see how that will work for me. Thanks! For example, this past week, we did school...

Re: Intro and special needs question
Thank you for all your replies and welcome! Crystal, your story about the penguin experiment made me laugh. It reminded me of last summer when my son asked me if he could do the volcano experiment that we'd done earlier in the week. Sure, just take it to the back deck. I got distracted and a while l...
