Thank you ladies for the reply and the suggestions. I'll go ahead and use those ideas. Even I should be able to wrap my mind around that one!

Hi I put in anything and everything that I come accross that has anything to do with either the spiritual or the science topic of the lessons. Here are a few examples: - magazine articles - we used to get the magazine "the Big Backyard" and so many of their topics fit somewhere into the K program. S...

Our Science Notebook

Our Science Notebook for 1G is a 3-ring binder. It is divided into categories. For each topic that we study we put any papers into page protectors and file them together behind the proper divider. My ds usually completes anywhere from 1-4 pages on each topic, depending on interest and time. Some thi...

Math Facts / Drill - Many ideas!

Hi - With my 1st Grader we use a combination of Calculadder (Level 1) and the drillpage on the Math-U-See website. Anyone can use that drillpage, even if you are not using MUS. We also tried doing flashcards but they seemed to stress out my ds so we are taking a break from them right now. Maybe we'l...

My K manual says that the original copyright date was 1991, with a reprint in 1998 (hopefully I am understanding that correctly). And my 1G manual says 1999 and then 2001.

Schedule - Can I teach MFWK units out of order?

Also, my son wants to learn about "J for Jewels". Thanks for your replies. Posted: Tue Dec 28, 2004 6:40 pm Vickie Hi! Generally it is bette...

R Stone

While at our homeschooling conference I spoke with the Rosetta Stone rep and she said that she was using it quite successfully with her ds5. They weren't using it with the workbooks or anything with him - rather just on the computer and he could navigate through the first few levels quite well and s...

Wedding between Q and U

We had my older 2 children (ds5 and dd3) dress up as a bride and groom. Ds played the part of Q - he had an upper case Q taped to his front and a lower case Q on his back. Dd did the same with dd except that she was U. Then we had a little wedding ceremony joining Q and U to illustrate that Q was al...

We finished MFWK about a month ago and it was such a wonderful, exciting, learning experience for our whole family. It really became a part of our lives, not just a few isolated moments of "school". We all learned about the life cycles of frogs and butterflies, or would watch videos/movies together ...
