Re: reading books for 5th grade

Postby C4Car » Tue Apr 09, 2013 7:52 am Sorry for not responding sooner. I am excited to add some more suggestions to our book list! You are all wonderful, and always give such great advice. We actually drive over 2 hours each month to a library. The selection is amazing, but if you don't have an i...

Re: reading books for 5th grade

Thanks so much ladies! We may try Hardy Boys again. I tried a year ago but he was so focused on Hank he only read half of one. I also ordered more of the missionary biographies as Julie mentioned (thanks) May try some more of the classics too. He hasnt read the Viking Quest series either. @Cyndi - T...

Re: Creation to the Greeks

If you have time read through Celebrating Biblical Feasts and make some notes. The beginning of the year starts with the Sabbath Feast, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkoth. I was glad I had some plans already in place or I could have been a little overwhelmed. Enjoy! CTG has been a wonderful year.

Re: How long to make 1st grade timeline?

I had a 9 ft. wall which worked really well, but a 7 ft wall will be just as good. No worries on that. We put up a straight line of blue painters tape, then taped (w/masking tape, painters tape or sticky-tac) the timeline pieces onto it. We also did not worry too much about the spacing and just move...

Re: Not sure what to do...

I would enjoy Kindergarten. It will build his confidence in reading and writing and will give you time to focus on the character and bible that is so much fun. From experience, we started early with my son. He flew through Kindergarten, first, and even ECC with no problems. But it caught up with us ...

Re: Skip adventures or not?

Long story short we are doing adventures this year with my 8 and 9 year old boys. It has been GREAT! For my 9 year old I have added a few things. He likes to read, so I added some extra reading and reading projects for him. He also has his own bible reading plan. Added Cursive and Typing and Spanish...

I can do all things art (with Adventures)

Did you like it? I'm wondering if it is something we will enjoy or if I should look for something else. . . I would like for them to do a variety of projects, but I need things easy to get ready or else they won't get done (toddler and infant will be on board!). . . I don't mind a mess, but I don't...

Re: Bible reading plan

After more research I think I will begin the Bible in a Year for Kids Challenge edition by Tyndale. We read the bible in the evening as a family, but I want him to be a little more independent and learn the habit of daily reading the bible for himself too. Thanks ladies for your responses. :) Love h...

Re: More Feasts questions - CTG

Just letting you know we are in the exact place that you are. :) Our schedule is sooo busy for the next 8 weeks or so. Something on every weekend. I was just going to celebrate the feasts the first weekend that we could, because I dont want to skip them. Our schedule slows down mid Oct and Nov so we...

Re: NEST videos for Adventures

I agree it depends alot on the kid. When we did Adventures my boys were 7 & 5 I think. They really liked them and when I quizzed them they knew the answers. The 5 year old didnt always make it through the entire show, but he isnt a tv kid. He would rather be outside. The workbooks were too difficult...

Re: NEST videos for Adventures

We love the nest videos in our family. This was my one crazy purchase when I first began homeschooling and was still working! But if you can purchase them or even better get them from the library they are good supplements. (Although I have learned throughout the years that MFW is complete and supple...

Re: Major organization help needed

We also have very little space, and use our kitchen table to do our work. The Desk Apprentice organizer from Staples is amazing. It helped me alot so I thought I would pass that idea on to you. I know it has been mentioned here before, but I dont know how to post links yet.! We did ECC and 1st last ...
