Re: Sundial

We did it the same way that Dawn just explained. It worked great, and then we were able to compare the next day to see that the times we'd marked the previous day were accurate. It was really fun!

Re: question about mfw kindergarten

The phonics moves at a very gentle pace, but you will have a child who is confident and fluent in CVC (consonant vowel consonant) words by the end of the year. My son came into the program knowing all his letters and sounds, and he could slowly sound out CVC words. He is becoming more fluent with pr...

Re: Help With Placement Please

How is his handwriting? Does he do well with the fine motor skills? My son is about the same age as yours, and we are halfway through MFW K - intentionally using it as a K4 program. We are loving it, and I would recommmend starting there because it is a great program that shouldn't be missed. I thin...

Choosing K - After doing another K program?

My one in K this year is not reading yet. He does know most of the sounds but can't blend. I am wondering if just the K basic package would help him. We are using 100 EZ lessons and we could just push through until he does read but MFW looks fun. :D We used the computer version of 100 easy lessons ...

Re: Unsure about MFW-K for my

We started in mid August with my son, who will be turning 5 on December 26. He's the type of child who loves to learn, read books with Mommy, do puzzles, and absorb new information. Sitting still & working on school for an hour or so is easy for him. I know that many will say not to start with a 4 y...

Re: How do your kids "do" school?

I taught second grade in a Christian school for 9 years. Although we did traditional seatwork for worksheets and some other lessons, the students and I very often worked in a circle on the floor, had lots of throw pillows and even a small play tent for silent reading time, had clipboards to use whil...

Re: Suggestions for books to read during the Creation weeks

I asked this question on another board, and "God Made It For You" was the most highly recommended book. We are buying a used copy from an online bookstore.

Re: Our first day with K

I smile when I see posts about moms and kids enjoying the first days of kindergarten! We won't be starting until September, but I agree with you 100% about the constant pointing to Jesus. As I have looked over my friend's teacher manual, I am amazed at the way this curriculum continually points to t...
