Re: 50:20 Vision - Minutes with Marie
Wow, this means so much to me right now. Our family is going through an extremely difficult time, really a difficult year. This is so true and a great thought to ponder! Thanks, Marie!! Life IS hard. God is SO good.

Check-In Time
I began All Aboard with my 3 year old. The special one-on-one time with him has been precious. God's timing truly is perfect... I wanted to begin All Aboard with him in January, but my plate was just too full at the time and honestly, he hated the idea! Now he is SO excited about it. I put up the fo...

Re: Sign language as foreign language?
Hi! I missed this post the first time. I studied ASL in both high school and college, graduating with a BA in ASL. I worked for 6 years as a sign language interpreter before staying home with our oldest child. Looks like you have gotten lots of great responses and are headed in the right direction! ...

Re: Silence -- Words to Ponder from Mother Teresa -- Minutes with Marie
I find early mornings, before the children wake, is my best chance for silence. It has been a struggle for me over the years. I've always liked the idea of waking before everyone and spending time in silence with the Lord, but making that idea become a reality has been tough. I am doing better now t...

Re: Preparing for Next Year
Hi! I agree with the above ladies that MFW is very open and go. We did that this year with ECC, starting in October after we moved into a new home. That said, I think a little more preparation on my part, during the summer, when I'm super excited and motivated will benefit our family and help get ev...

Re: Preschool Consultant--Introduction!
Hi Lisa, We are excited to start All Aboard in the fall with my youngest little guy, and Lord willing, the Pre-K program the year after. MFW has been such a blessing to our family! All Aboard looks wonderful and I anticipate a lot of special one on one time with my little fella as we go through it. ...

Re: Pre-K for 5yo?
I wish Voyage had been available this year for my wiggly 5yo (May bday as well!). We did K through unit 10 and stopped. He wasn't ready for the phonics. He loves "doing school", though, and especially the individual time with me. ;) I've been struggling to plan something for him each day s...

Re: Suggestions for pacing in K
The benefits for us for testing were many. The most important is that my child realized that he wasn't stupid. He really thought this prior to testing. Testing showed him that he had a normal IQ and just had a brain that wasn't going to process language in a certain way. What a relief! Once he had ...

Re: Suggestions for pacing in K
Not upsetting at all! Your words were a balm to my soul today. :) I needed to hear this and was hoping for a response like this. Like Julie always says, I tend to lean towards "better late than early" myself. I am completely fine with taking a break from K for a while. I guess what was/is ...

Re: Suggestions for pacing in K
Hi ladies, I need some more help here. I just broke down to my husband about all of this...really emotional. I'm having a really hard time dealing with it. We are no strangers to learning issues. I have a child with a big delay in math and we are now learning about stealth dyslexia as a possibility ...

Re: Suggestions for pacing in K
Thank you Julie! I was hoping you'd give me some good suggestions and links! ;) Both of those links were encouraging and helpful. I think we'll just slow down for now and maybe go back and review the letter sounds he has learned so far so that those are solidified in his mind. I am fine with slowing...

Re: help needed, having a hard time with little ones!
Grace, blessings to you as you raise your little family. My family is similar (size and age span) and it is hard when everyone is so small to get anything done, really. It does get easier, though. Hang in there!

How to juggle 2nd grader, 1st grader and Kindergartener
I have seven kids all very close in age. I'm excited about eventually reaching the family cycle. I was wondering if I can combine my 1st and 2nd graders in Adventures (sticking to their own grade-level 3 Rs) without my 1st grader missing out on anything crucial from the Learning God's Story level? ...

ECC--Ordering Question
I am about to order ECC, and trying to decide on the additions....specifically the Exploring World Geography. How many pages are in this? Re: Organizing All Aboard the Animal Train - tips?
That sounds like a good plan! I am still debating on whether to start with my 2yo now or wait until fall..... This makes me want to start now. I love the idea of getting the older ones involved. My kiddos would love that, too.

Yay! So exciting! We just purchased All Aboard for my youngest for the same reason. I need some structure with him and he is feeling quite left out this year (and getting into lots of trouble :~ ), being finally the only one not doing "school". He'll be 3 in February and I plan to start ri...

Share Your Hopes and Plans for the Year
Let’s share our hopes and plans for this school year. Works really well for us, yay! Overal...

Re: Struggling with 1st grade math
Hi Laura, I could've written your post. My oldest has struggled with math from the beginning. I totally agree with the other ladies, take it SLOW. I don't recommend switching curriculums. We've tried 5 or so and...the curriculum isn't the problem. ;) MFW's 1st grade math, IMO, is the best way for ch...

Not sure where to place my child?
I am having a hard time deciding what program to use for my daughter. She is 9 years old. She is reading at a much lower grade level than her age would indicate. I finally had her eyes tested and had her tested for learning disabilities. She will start vision therapy this summer. They were thinking...
