Re: New to MFW with a placement ?
Sounds like a plan! My oldest has severe delays in her speech as well so I know where you're coming from. (hers were genetic). This is our 2nd year with MFW and we LOVE it! She's not a worksheet type person so it works. She struggles with putting her words into sentences to summarize things but can ...

Re: When homeschool gets tough - then what?
Hi! I have four kiddos. This is our first year with 2 grades but we've also added a baby to the mix. I've learned something recently that has truly saved my sanity. Forget your preset schedule or time frame that you think school has to be done in each day (for me it was before lunch). Relax and get ...

Re: Spelling Power- placed in the same level, again
we started with A last year and were in B by the end. Tested for this year and starting in B. We're moving quickly through the first few groups since she knows most of them. there have been a few she needed to practice so I figure it's good to go through and have the review. She is getting most of t...

Re: Stop me from jumping ship with SP
Stick with the spelling power! My 9yo struggles with spelling. It thought we'd try a workbook format this year after using SP last year. After 2 weeks we have gone back to SP! I love how simple SP is. test on the words for 5 min. have them use the 10 steps to study and pick up where you left off the...

Re: Ideas Needed: Organizing
I have a file crate with folders for each week. All student sheets are put in there for K and ECC. As we go through the year those are pulled and put into their individual folders. I have a small cabinet that has 2 shelves. 1 for kids and 1 for TM's and books I use to read to them etc. Their finishe...

Combining editions
We did this for this year. The first edition has the student sheets in back other than the state sheets. No issues though.Psalm127mom wrote:I wanted to know what issues, if any, might arise if I use the new student sheets for Adventures with the previous edition (I believe first) teacher's manual.

Science Student Sheets w/Adventures?
Hi everyone. Does Adventures have student Q & A sheets for science? Nope. The first science sheet I've seen is coming up this week for week 20 and a seed growing observation. There is a short description in the tm about writing things down for the experiments like what you did, what happened and wh...

A year ago I made a similar post. We has used workbook based curriculum. [ http://board.mfwbooks.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=3745&p=84394#p84354 ] Our first year was rough to say the least. This is our third year and first with mfw. It has been such a blessing for us! I can not tell you what to do as fa...

Hello, all! We have wanted to homeschool for years but are finally ready to take the plunge. I really love the way MFW is presented and have hopes of using it either starting this spring or fall. Combining K and ECC
I was wondering, is it possible to combine K (age 5) and ECC? What I was wondering, could I use the ECC for both students for the Bible, History, Science, Geography etc... and then just use age/level-appropriate math and LA? I would imagine you could. We will be using both next year. My younger two...

Bible - Is it enough?
Wondering if the bible portion used in Adventures is enough for personal bible study for a second grade boy? Just Purchased MFW Adventures

We have been following the classical model outlined in TWTM so this is a bit of a departure for me but satisfies an interest led spirit for my son. A...

Adventures placement question
Hi everyone. I am new her. I am really leaning towards MFW for next year but am unsure of placement. DS will be 6. He is a bit accelerated and will have finished 1st grade. I think Adventures would be a good fit for DS. And it looks FUN. I am unsure about DD. I want to keep the LA and math and pdnm...

Question about the family cycle...
So the Family cycle is a chronological study of history right? So what if your first child is ready for it, but your second child can't start for two more years? Do you go ahead and start your oldest anyways, and just let your youngest jump in halfway through history? Do you finish the cycle, then ...
