When to start learning math facts?
My daughter is starting grade 2, and I was wondering when she needs to start memorizing math facts. When do I need to start doing drills with her. Are you using Singapore? Yes we are using Singapore. We are just at the point in 1A before addition/subtraction up to 20 happens. Should I work on math ...

Re: Handwriting sheets for ADV?
I found a dry erase board with primary lines on it at Walmart in the school supplies for a dollar. I write on that then they copy onto their student sheet. Very nice.

Re: MFW with infant
Regarding the moby, I found that my fourth did better if I tied it looser. Also, keep trying. Sometimes they will like it better later. Also, does your baby like the swing? Just another option. I also agree that the baby can be the lesson. Great point.

Hello all! I am new to this message board and this is my 2nd year using MFW. I have an 11 yr old, 6yr old, 4 yr old and a 2 month old. We are doing Creation to Greeks this year and my 4 yr old is doing Kindergarten. This is my first year homeschooling with an infant, and I need ANY advice I can get...

Using Saxon with MFW-1st?
I have a friend who has passed down her Saxon 1 Teacher's Manual for me to look through. I don't have the workbook to go along with it and haven't started it yet. However, I like the structure of the layout and how it progresses. Yet I like the hands-on activities and games that MFW-1st includes. W...

My daughter was 4 and didn't recognize all her letters when we started MFWK. The program has really helped her with recognition and sounds. She is reading short vowel words. Just to encourage you in your decision.

Is he bored with all the worksheets or just certain ones? And if just certain ones then which ones?
I really think your daughter would enjoy the pre k from MFW. Not that it will keep her from interrupting but maybe a little less?

Phonics and MFW K
Okay, so I need advice. My 5 year old just started MFW K today! :) Last year I homeschooled her for preschool (she wanted school work like her brothers). Fun With Magnets - two kids share or each their own?
Hi - Again, for those who have had two or more kids doing Aventures - did your kids SHARE one "Fun With Magnets" kit, or did you get one for each child? Looks like my two kids (both age 8 ) will really enjoy this, so I can see the benefits of each one having their own set. Just curious what others ...

I think it is awesome that you are all remembering that we are the teachers not the curriculum, no matter how great it is. When we come to a point in the curriculum that we don't like or fit our children, situation or family then we adjust. Great to hear all of your thoughts on this topic. I will be...

Re: 1st grade math/phonics
I used MFW 1st with my son 6 this year and used Saxon 1 for math. He tested into 1B in Singapore. I am still going to start with 1A to make sure he really gets the Singapore style before we move on. I am going to use MFW 1 math this next year with my daughter. I am just coming to really trust MFW re...
