Also, do I need the Instructor book for WWE? Just curious to see what anyone else has done.
Thanks all,
Debbie :)

Re: 4th grader and 8th grader.....need some help!

Should I do the whole book of WWE, since he didn't do the first half last year? Or should I just try to get through as much of the book as possible in one year? Just curious. I really want him to aquire good writing skills. He is already on his way, but wanting that to continue. Thank you soo much e...

Questions on writing curriculum

Hi all, This msg board has been most helpful, so I am back with more questions, this time regarding writing for my 4th and 8th graders. I keep coming back to why we wanted to home school in the first place. Of course the spiritual aspect is first, but part of that is looking to simplify life and hav...

Re: 4th grader and 8th grader.....need some help!

Thanks for your recommendations. I feel like I'm definitely in uncharted territory (for me.... This upper level stuff is all new to me). I do plan to do Saxon math for sure. So we'll do the placement test. He's always done pretty well in math. Looks like this is going to be an interesting year. 😜 De...

Re: 4th grader and 8th grader.....need some help!

Thank you all for your responses. It is very helpful and affirming that I am headed in the right direction with him. Although he is not so sure that is the best course of action, he knows that we will plan a good course for him. Now I just need to figure out what is best for him for Language Arts, S...

4th grader and 8th grader.....need some help!

Hi, I hs'ed only my dd last school year and we had a great year using MFW-ADV. She loved it! Now my ds who is going into 8th grade is asking to come back home for school. So I had planned to start the 5yr cycle with her, but ds already did that in 3rd grade. He is not sure he wants to do that again....

Re: Singapore or ?, for almost 6th grader & 4th grader?

I found Singapore to be very time efficient for both my kids (grades 3 & 5) and for me. There were plenty of review pages built in (we did every review page there was including the ones from the textbook, which I photocopied for them to do) so that I had a "day off" teaching math often enough. We al...

Re: Reflections on this year-what blessings have you receive

Hello there! I love this post. Thanks for turning the thoughts towards blessings. Sometimes it is too easy to think of what went wrong, or what we want to change, or what curriculum to choose. I would say "ditto" to all of your points. My kids are still really working on getting along with each othe...

Re: ECC Families- How's It Going?

Hi Stephanie, I saw your post there about ECC and thought I'd jump in on it. This is my first yr to use MFW. We are doing ECC w/ 9 & 11yo ds and doing MFW-K w/ 5yo dd. It has been going really well. The kids love school, they love learning. And it is neat to see how things segue w/ one another. We w...

Re: MFW high school

Hi again, Thank you again for weighing in on the high school topic. Dawn, actually the info that you gave was very helpful. I guess I had never thought of the credits in that light, that it's the colleges who really are looking at this stuff. And Deb, thank you for the book suggestion. Coincidence, ...

Re: MFW high school

Thank you, everyone, for your insight into using MFW high school. If I could, I would pull them out now and bring them home. I think my head is spinning about the whole idea of high school at home. If I homeschool them for high school, anything we do at home (or outside of an accredited school) woul...

Re: Praises

We are on week 24 in ECC and loving it. Also doing MFW-K and loving that, too. God is so good to allow us this special time together. Even our 5yo dd is learning all the verses from Matthew. I could shout for joy!

Blessings to you all!
Enjoy,
Debbie

Re: Is ECC too much for a 3rd grader?

My situation is a bit different. I am doing ECC w/ a 5th and 3rd grader, and also doing MFW-K w/ our 5yo dd. Our 5th grader has ADHD and he struggles with some of the extra Geography worksheets. Meanwhile our 3rd grader asks to do them, and finishes them before the 5th grader. Our 3rd grade son is a...

Re: Math question again

Thanks for the links, Julie. So many awesome ideas there. I am going to work on coming up with my math plans over the summer, and hoping for an early Aug start. But I plan to work on math facts all summer, hoping that will make things go smoother for us when we actually start our hs'ing year at summ...
