Re: Spelling Power
I will probably back to the beginning of the level we were on or right after the last review section we did. This will only be our second year with Spelling Power, so our first time to restart, so take my opinion with a grain of salt!

Re: General ideas for Creation to the Greeks
I purchased the What's in the Bible coloring book (digital version) awhile back and realized while prepping for CTG that it would be PERFECT to have as coloring pages for during read alouds. My 1st and 3rd grader have loved having something to do while I'm reading this year, so I'll be printing a se...

Gods World News
I was thinking MFW had a discount for those wanting to order GWN. Weve been getting it since kindy and the kids love it. http://www.mfwbooks.com/products/21/Language-Arts/#Magazines [ Editor's Note : Hint - on the MFW website, look under Language Arts and you will find a Magazine bar to click on.]

Re: Expos
One thing I'd never thought of that someone was talking about in a FaceBook group is that a lot of conventions make you pay for the entire convention to see the curriculum hall. So, expos are good for some families since they are free. Of course, that doesn't help me since we plan on going to our co...

ECC ordering qestion
Thanks to everyone who helped me in the other thread, I think we're going to go with ECC. I had a couple questions, if both my kids want to do the Complete Book of Animals, do I order 2? It sounds like it has little booklets, and activities that each child would want. Also, would we want 2 of the o...

Re: What happened here?
It makes me sad because I don't use Facebook and don't particularly want to have Facebook. Yet so many things are going that way... :~ Unless you have something against the company as whole, I've seen people on the MFW boards with fake names so you could use it for boards only and not allow "r...

Re: baking powder biscuits - Bee Tree
I'm not sure if baking powder biscuits are something special or not. We make a bisquick substitute and use it for biscuits, waffles, & pancakes. My husband did not like it the one time I used half wheat flour/half white! I thought it was fine though. :) Biscuit Mix (Bisquick Substitute) 8 C. flo...

Re: Best way to organize student sheets?
I have a file box with 34 folders and have my K & 2nd grade sheets in each week's folder. I also put in things like a library book list, extra sheets, and a copy of the grids.

ECC this year -- or wait till next year? (Did I mess up?
Hi everyone! We've been happy users of MFW curriculum for the past two years. We have two children: A 7-year-old going into 2nd grade and an almost-9-year-old going into 3rd. I did MFW 1st with my oldest, then last year I did Adventures in MFW with both. All along I thought I'd walk seamlessly into...

Re: Adventures: line spacing for notebook pages
I would think a sharpie and ruler would be able to help you make those dotted lines solid and still be pretty neat looking. My daughter dreads summaries, so we usually didn't run out of room. :) But I'm guessing her handwriting would improve if she was writing a bit smaller. Even I have a hard time ...

Re: How to organize student sheets for K?
My first time through, I put every page into a page protector at the beginning of the year. As we went, we pulled it out, used it, and returned it. This next time, I've got file folders which are already set up for my 2nd grader. When I get my K sheets, I'm going to fill them in according to her wee...

Re: time spent on homeschooling
I'm in MO, too. Like someone else said, pretty much anything can be counted as a core subject. Cooking and laundry are math. Church is social studies. Playing outside is science. Anytime someone reads to them is reading. As for actually keeping track of all those random minutes, though, I have no cl...

How to store preK activity cards?
How do you store the presK activity cards? Anyone have a link to a box that fits? Thank you! We found a 4x6 file box at Wal-Mart. It's this style, but they had clear and a "see-through" black in store. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Locking-Index-Card-File-with-Flip-Top-Holds-350-3-x-5-Cards/2...

Re: ECC-Organizing worksheets
We'll start 2nd & K in the fall (late summer) and I'm going to try the hanging file folder method. I made a folder for each week 1-34. (I had extras, so I made some for some holidays that we will break from regular school to do so I can print and file things as I find them.) I have already filed...

Re: Questions about Kindergarten Unit "C is for Cow"
This thread came to mind the other day, so I'm glad it got bumped back up because I forgot to search for it to share the idea I had. Would you be able to change the lesson to talk about cow meat instead of milk? Or possibly, cows eat grass, we eat cows, so different animals/people need different thi...

Packages vs Individual Items
Are the packages significantly cheaper than buying items individually from MFW? I'm looking to purchase ECC but we own many of the books. I don't really want duplicates but if buying items individually will cost more I will go with the package. You'll just have to add it up and see. Before we bough...

Hi everyone! I was thinking the other day that we needed a thread like this! We usually don't have enough leftovers for Dh to take them in his lunch and us to have enough. Re: How do you store student pages before use?
Your kids might be older than mine. For K last year, all the sheets we had to do were in the student sheet pack. Before the year started, I put them all in a 3 ring binder in page protectors. The binder sat on my desk all year and I pulled the pages out as needed. We're getting ready to start 1st in...
