Re: general science test

Thanks for the ideas. Memorization is a HUGE difficulty for this guy. I was thinking of maybe rewriting the test as a true/false - or maybe it should be open book. Aaaaaaaaargh! I wish I were more creative. Sometimes it is hard to stay ahead of the learning difficulties he has. I did email Apologia....

Thanks for your replies. I feel like I might be on the right path for PP. Hopefully we can pull the rest together as well.

Re: Apologia Kits

Thanks for your replies. I have used Nature's Workshop Plus in the past and found them very helpful for us. I just don't have time to go digging for stuff. By using them I can just open up my book and go. Thanks again for your info.

Re: Did you leave another unit study to come to MFW?......

I used one year (American Story I). I thought it would be literature with a few more hands-on things and a slightly easier level. I did not feel that the year of study flowed smoothly, and the books, well, I don't know, we didn't learn as much as I'd hoped. The hands-on seemed mostly to be paper cra...

Re: dyslexia

I don't really have the energy to go in to everything, but I just want to say how excited I was to see Dianne Craft at my convention last month. Suddenly everything made sense to me about my oldest. I'm not particularly emotional, but I was almost in tears listening to her. I know it was an answer t...

We read "A Christmas Carol" this week. We're going to use the Kingfisher book next week. One thing all my kids have enjoyed is the 'Christmas Around the World Student Booklet' in the "Celebrate Christmas Around the World" book. My oldest is soaking in all the info about traditions around the world, ...

My only regret with MFW

Usually by this time of year I am tweaking this or changing that with my curriculum. Not so this year (although I am excited about CTG and K next year). I'm thankful to have finally found just what we need. My regret? That we'll never do Adv (except maybe long years from now with my youngest) and th...

Well, you and I must think alike because I have the exact same books with the same plan - except I scheduled stuff so I could still check off boxes!! :) I'm also planning on reading A Christmas Carol, doing lots of Christmas hymns, and reading through the birth of Christ slowly (for discussion sake)...

Fiesta Fun

I am just about to pop!!! I'm not sure if the kids are more excited about our Mexican Fiesta or I am. I just filled the pinata. We have friends coming over with some Mexican missionary pictures and we'll have Sangria with our tacos. The house is filled with paper flowers and the kids each made a pon...

Thanks for the replies. I actually feel better about doing things in order too. I just wanted to make the best of this. I may even just do the project part now and save the educational info until we get to India.

Thanks again!!
