Bible Notebook - David & Goliath

I'm really proud of my son. His Bible Notebook for today was about David and Goliath, here's his entry: Goliath laughed at God. David trusted God. David won the battle. And his picture is David with his slingshot, a stone hitting Goliath, him falling down and a bubble caption above David's head with...

Powder around the ant entrance

We just finished the first exploration day. We attracted a lot of ants very quickly with the honeybread, and we noticed where all the entrances to their tunnels were and we marked them and estimated how big the nest was underground. My oldest son remarked it looked like a little highway how fast the...

My kids love Peep and the Big Wide World and so we used a lot of the games throughout the year. For this unit they have a "paint splat" game that my kids love. Here's the website for anyone interested: http://www.peepandthebigwideworld.com/

We found a book called Wiggle and Waggle about a pair of worms and their life in a garden. It's great! We also planted a garden filled with all different types of veggies (even a pumpkin patch!) This was a very fun unit for us.

Kangaroo

My ds is into mapping, so on Day 4, we drew Australia on a big sheet of paper, read a few books on Australia, and then went online and printed out different things Australian and had him paste them on his "map". This was a lot of fun and a great learning experience. We are also reading Kanga and Roo...

Changes I made for our family

BADGES : We also had trouble with the badges, they would become bothersome for the kids, so I started letting them copy the phrase for the week and drawing the pictures and at the end of Kinder, we will make them into their MFW Kindergarten Book which they can keep. I'm really excited about this. S...

My DUH Moment

We're almost finished with MFW K and we now love it. It was a struggle at first because I was pushing too much (I supplemented math, and other things) with my ds and he was fighting me every step of the way, even though he was excelling, he wasn't loving it. I ultimately blamed MFW for his not likin...

Charting the jumps

We had a great time measuring the jumps and then charted the jumps in a sketchbook that we keep for each unit. We made a column for how far, for how high and used the kangaroo measurements we found online and then used the measurements from my boys. They were both very excited to see how far they co...
