Re: Using ECC in a Homeschool Co-op or Classroom
I've successfully used ideas from ECC to teach two coop classes. We had two different levels of classes: 4th-6th grade and 1st-3rd grade. Last semester I taught on Mexico, Australia, India, and Japan. I checked out books using the books list from the ECC TM for each country. For each country I used ...

ECC Idea for Nate Saint & South America
I keep meaning to post this idea every time I listen to my Steven Curtis Chapman CD- Declaration. On the Declaration CD the fourth track is called No Greater Love. I have scanned the liner notes for this song and the image is below. The song is about Nate and his four missionary friends and the ulti...

Re: The Great Dinosaur Mystery and the Bible
It was removed because it was not what it seemed. It wasn't based in fact. It was a kind of shark that was hauled in but there were too many rumors and the story took a life of its own http://www.answersingenesis.org/article ... plesiosaur Ahhhh, thanks Crystal. That was a very interesting article ...

Re: The Great Dinosaur Mystery and the Bible
The best part about the older versions is I think they will keep getting more out of them. The Paul Taylor one also has a picture of a huge, dinosaur from the sea, Note to anyone who doesn't know- the older version of the Paul Taylor book is not exactly the same as the new version. I have both vers...

Music Idea for ECC Africa weeks
I just wanted to share another Selah song that would be great to listen to during the Africa weeks of study. I will post this on the ideas board too. Every Selah album has atleast one song sung in an African language, usually in Congolese. The song on Bless the Broken Road CD is called "Follow Jesus...

Re: Sick Kids..
We just don't do school and then double up later to catch up. But we also school year round, so I usually feel ahead rather than behind anyway. And this year we are reeeeeeally behind due to my own health issues. But I haven't stressed about it, since we started the first week of July for this schoo...

Rolling cart over here when they come and go from the library, bought mine at Big Lots for 20 or less. But when they are out for reading I have those Sterilite file crates from Walmart- pink one for dd and black for ds. They are ligh weight and cost about $5. I hope to buy another two next year when...

Re: Adventures
Just chiming in quickly. We loved ADV! I wished I had blogged that year but we have great memories. The work load is just the right amount for 2nd and 3rd graders (we did it in 2nd with our oldest). It would be so easy branch out using book basket books or other library books, if you come to a topic...

We did the Sioux Coup Stick. Here's my post on my blog from that week with pictures of the craft. http://quietlyrunningtheracehomeschooli ... s-3-4.html Believe me, I always looked for the easy and least messy craft to do each time

Re: CTG Memory work question
How about Psalm 139? I really like that one. -Trish That is the one I ended up going with! Thanks everyone for the ideas and suggestions. That should keep her busy for the next four weeks. I know we will have to fill in another long scripture once she finishes with Psalm 1. I am sure it will not ta...

Re: CTG Memory work question
we just did Psalm 100 as extra. Great idea! I will add it in. ... I just mentioned Psalm 100 to my daughter she promptly recited it to me in its entirety. Oh well so much for that. I like the entire psalm memorization thing, just have to find something she doesn't already do. We are adding in verse...

Re: MFW Curriculum?
Just wanted to say a couple of things on how MFW has impacted my dd. It was while we were reading our Bible readings in MFW that my dd came to be convicted of her sins and had her name written in the Lambs Book of Life. Because of our experience in ECC my daughter now believes she is called to missi...

ECC Mexico alternate Pinata idea
I just wanted to share this simple idea for a mini pinata. You make a mini pinata that looks like a red chile pepper and is filled with small candies like M&Ms. I found it at http://familyfun.go.com/crafts/mini-pinatas-668588/ I did this with my homeschool coop class of fifteen kids today and it was...

Re: Is it really supposed to be this way?
My dd hit some bumps in Singapore (she is finishing up 3A now), now she has really mostly hit her stride I went ahead and got the extra practice book for 3A and that helps. We also slowed way down and focused on understanding rather than quantity. Maybe you could wait to do the workbook pages for th...

Re: ECC Scheduling/Long-range planning
The 35th & 36th weeks of ECC are optional, unless you have to do 36 weeks for your state and record keeping. Maybe that will give you two extra weeks and you can finish earlier in June. You could also save some of the fun crafts or cooking things for a Saturday fun day with Dad included. We often di...

Just wondering what things she really liked in ADV. Are you doing the deluxe package of ECC? What are her interests? Re: Not a very successful first day....
Just to chime in on a few points- I found the first few weeks of ECC pretty challenging, then it seemed to lighten up a little. I think there were chapters in POE that I summarized and it seemed like the beginning was especially fully of science terms and kind of wordy for my dd. Each day is differe...

Re: what is wheat paste and where do you buy it??
liquid white glue watered down
or
liquid starch
or
probably even gluten free flour with water would work.
Just some ideas for alternatives. We will be doing ECC again down the road and will have to do projects wheat free. I'm sure I won't be the only one.

Just a quick thought- I taught in the private school classroom for a few years (taught prek all the way to 8th grade) before we started having kids, so this is where I am pulling this information.
