Re: God's Creation the same year as Creation to the Greeks?
I agree with the previous poster. Last year I did all of CTG with all of my kids then did the math and L.A from First Grade and I started my 3rd child on MFW K slowly. I just do some of the K activities. For example, for the P penguin week we read a book about pengiuns, watched a penguin video onlin...

Re: Finish LLFT or start on level?
It's really up to you. You could look at the lessons you have left and then see if those same skills (from the lessons you have left)will be taught again in the next level book (you can preview the table of contents on the mfw website I think. Christianbook.com allows you to preview them also). Prev...

My son doesn't write in it at all. Separate paper works well.

Hello,
My kids are younger so I don't have any advice for you. I want to encourage you to call the MFW office. I have called and they are always very helpful.
Blessings to you,
Grace

I will pray for you Beth. God is our comforter. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as ...

Thank you Julie. I found out that the organization we are working with has an educational consultant who homeschooled her kids overseas so I think she will have some good advice for me. The threads you sent are helpful as well.
Thank you

Re: 2 income homeschoolers using Adventures?
I just want to add that MFW has never taken us as long as they say. I think Adv. Took us an hour to 1 1/2 hours. I think you can make it longer or shorter as needed. I tend to do CM short lessons. Doing that can allow you to spread things throughout the day or fit into the schedule you need. Others ...

Re: Which curriculum should I simultaneously teach a 3 & 4 yo?
HSLDA has info. On state requirements. You want to make sure you are following those. Some states don't require you to start school until a certain age and that age varies by state. May God bless you as you start home schooling your little ones!

Homeschooling overseas
Hi everyone, My husband and I are applying with a missionary organization. As we are moving along in the process I was wondering if anyone on here has transitioned to mission work while homeschooling? How did you juggle time for fundraising, moving, etc. And homeschooling? Did you take a break from ...

Re: Which curriculum should I simultaneously teach a 3 & 4 yo?
I don't believe you can hold a 4 year old back. There is so much more for our children to learn than academics! I would agree with the previous poster and start on pre-k. It is a great program. Then you can start both on Kinder and if your younger child is not ready for it they can easily join in on...

I am teaching First Grade and I always write down my daughter's summary and have her copy it. I think that is very age appropriate.

I noticed that noone had responded so I wanted to respond. I haven't used those but looked at Right Start math a few years ago. It looks pretty hands- on and teacher intensive and I didn't think I would have the time for it back then, but if your child would do well with it and you can manage it the...

Re: CTG subbing MOH1 and Geology
We are in week 13 of CTG right now. Streams of Civ. Is used but only small parts so far. The readings add more detail to the part of history being studied. For example, as we learn about pharoahs in Egypt, we read a bit about pharaohs from Streams. We read about a women pharoah and who she succeeded...

Update: We have a good routine! I wrote out a routine and we have been sticking to it! Our days are going better. Re: Schedule for teaching multiple young children
Thank you for your replies. They are helpful. I have considered not doing preschool, but I honestly just do 10 min. and not every day. We do have a routine, but we will work on tightening them up. I am doing Math and Language arts for 1st and K. I do add in the K activities as we have time. My K gir...

Schedule for teaching multiple young children
Hello, I am teaching CTG to my 4th grader ( though all join in) MFW 1st grade, MFW K( we just started) and I have a 3 year old ( we do preschool when we can fit it in. He likes the one on one time with me) and he is potty training and a 1 year old. I am wondering if anyone could share advice on how ...

Hello, I am teaching first grade to my 7 year old. I personally love the phonics and the Bible lessons. My daughter finds the curriculum fun and engaging. The math is gentle and hands on. She loves the math. I think you will probably find the math to be lighter than CLE but I am not too familiar wit...

Hello, If I am remembering right, in many of the chosen read alouds if not all, you see the main character being faithful to minister in their home country first. The books show their process of maturing spiritually and the result is that they are active in ministry and follow wherever God leads the...

Hello, The Kingdom Tales hardcover book that I bought did not have pictures, but I bought it from a bookstore. I did find the discussion questions helpful. They helped to point towards the main point and lesson in the story. But I have young kids and they needed that. You could also just read the st...
