Re: Journaling
I had a different opinion on this topic until I heard Susan Wise Bauer's talk on writing in the Elementary years. She explained that writing is a complicated skill and creative writing is something a child either has a gift for or doesn't. She elaborated on the topic but that is the summary of it. I...

Galations 6:9 So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
You are reaping your harvest! Thanks for encouraging us!

ECC Wk8 George Müller
We finished week 8 last week and learned about George Müller through Hero Tales. Tonight, I found a free ebook download through Amazon called Answers to Prayer From George Müller's Narratives. I've only read the first several pages but it is really good. Just thought I would share if anyone else is ...

Re: Teaching two children math & LA?
I do not do them at the same time. What I do is while I'm working with the 7yr old math, I have my 6 yr old play with the 2 and 1 yr old. Then we switch. For LA I do the same.

Re: Done by Noon??
I think it's better to say that a full MFW day is about 4 hours, however you schedule it - even with many subjects, even with many kids. So I think if you want to be done by noon, you'd have to schedule 4 hours of schooling before noon. (Although Fridays are a bonus) I agree with Julie. Our school ...

Done by Noon??
It seems a few people have mentioned that the Hazel's curriculum is designed to be completed by noon. Is anyone done with school by noon? How do you do it? Mine are 7, 6, 2 and 1 and with the toddlers it is impossible to be done by noon. Usually, we get half done in the morning and the rest done wh...

Re: Making the First Day Special
I was just thinking to make a little sign saying "First day of __ grade" with their height and weight and the date. Then take a picture of them holding the sign. At the end of the year make a sign that says "Last day of _____ grade" with the height and weight and date again.

Re: Can someone help me with a 2nd grade question?
I agree with many of the other replies. I also wanted to skip ADV and go straight to ECC b/c it looked soooooo good! I chose to go with MFW recommendations and purchased ADV for my 2nd grader. We are almost finished with this year and I'm SO glad we did not skip ADV! My son has grown leaps and bound...

Starting a 1st Grader and a Kindergartner SOON
So, basically, just wondering is MFW really this user-friendly. And, what y'alls daily schedule/routine looks like (especially for K and 1st graders). Welcome! I did K and 1st this year and it has been amazing. (We are actually still in process since I had baby #4 2 1/2 months ago.) It works great....

Re: Moving from K to 1st grade?
How to you other Moms out there like the 1st grade curriculum compared to Kindergarten? My son and I are really enjoying the K curriculum and I was wondering if you Moms could give me some feed back as to how you like the 1st grade in comparison? Thank you Monica wife to Mark (12 years) mom to Bria...
