Re: How to catch up w/ Singapore

hsmom: Thank you! I have given in to the idea that we will have to do math all summer! Now I am going to have a GREAT attitude about it. :-) Thank you for your encouragement!

Teresa: Thank you so much. It is good to hear from someone who was able to accomplish this. Thanks for responding!

Re: CTG- Doing Sabbath and feasts experiences?

We have enjoyed doing the feasts this year. The kids absolutely love them. They do take alot of work in preparation and execution, but it was worth it. The kids really remember what we talked about on those evenings. I can understand your trepidation about ensuring that it all points back to Christ....

Re: How long does math take?

I also wanted to add that it is OK to skip things that are too easy for her. Every page doesn't have to be filled in! There were some places I did that with my son when we started Singapore. That is great that she already knows all her math facts by heart. Way to go! Now, can you come and teach mine...

EFTRU - Ideas for fun review?

Here we are in week 30 of RtR and there are a ton of Latin roots to review and test! We've been doing a lot of it orally - but am wondering if anyone has incorporated some type of game or worksheet/puzzle at this point? Are there any resources online for free? Last year we made up a few 'concentrat...

Re: High's a good thing!!

Loved hearing your experience. I have a few friends irl who have high schoolers and I love to have a glimpse into the future, so to speak! What an amazing time that will be to see our little ones stepping closer and closer to adulthood. How exciting!

Which program is easier to implement, ECC of CTG??

This will be the first year that we would use MFW since we did Adventures a year ago. I know the reasoning behind starting ECC first, BUT I would like to ease into MFW and which program would be the easiest program to do that with? I realize all of this is a matter of opinion, so please share with ...

Re: 8 year old son ?...

Thank you all for your replies! I guess sometimes I feel like we are under the microscope b/c we chose to hs. I think it makes me too sensitive to the quirks in my children. KWIM? He reads well and spells well. But when asked in PLL to make up a story about something, he really struggles. It ends up...

Re: I need some thoughts on how and when to finish ECC.

Tammy, I just had to reply to you. My heart just went out to you. I am sorry that you feel so much pressure in homeschooling this year. I have an 8 year old boy and 6 year old girl and am also doing ECC this year. My 8 year old sounds like yours. Academically slightly behind (even though he doesn't ...

Re: Reading comprehension for K

Hello, <big hug> and take a deep breath!! It is going to be fine. I don't know you or your son so remember that my advice is just based on my experience. (which isnt' much! 8| ) If I had a son who turned 5 in March I would start him in K in the fall. For now, I would do school activities with him da...

Re: Anyone using High School Level with an Aspie?

I really should not be replying to this thread so take this with the grain of salt!!! I was just thinking as I read, though, about something that had not been mentioned. Could you just stretch his high school years into 5 years instead of 4? Would that discourage him or make him feel like he failed?...

Re: Trouble with "R"

Hi, my daughter is in speech therapy. She will be 6 this Friday. I was told that the 'r' sound would be the last sound they work with her on. They told me it was normal for 6 year olds to still have trouble with that sound. Hope that helps.

Things I have tried

Posted: Sun Jul 27, 2008 4:54 pm My little one will be 2 in November. These are the things I have tried: - some high chair time right next to us with an activity (like coloring, playing w/ play dough, etc.) - Some special activities I only get out at school time like a big tub of noodles to scoop a...
