Re: High school US history to 1877
Thanks Julie! We have used WHL this year, never using AHL, and although I had to tweak some of the literature readings, having a schedule all planned out for me was well worth it for both my daughter and me. I am still not sure if we are going to use US1 next year or if I am going to try to piece my...

Re: Another MFW WHL question... how long...
Thanks so much for your input! I had my daughter keep track of exactly how much time she is taking for each subject. I was blown away at how much time she was taking. For example, today in Biology she spent an hour and 40 minutes and she uses a 5-day schedule (not the MFW Apologia schedule). I know ...

Another MFW WHL question... how long...
Does it take for your child to complete the assignments in WHL each day? My daughter in 10th is using WHL, as well as Lifepac Health, Lifepac Spanish 1, MUS Geometry/ MUS Algebra ( she spends an hour and a half total on her maths), and Apologia Biology. She also speed walks for PE once a day for abo...

Re: WHL what things are the students supposed to check ...
Dawn, my dd did not want to check her Notgrass, but like you said I explained to her that it would be more beneficial to her to check her own work in history because *she* was the one taking the course and if she checked her own questions it would help her in the long run to remember what she would ...

Re: WHL what things are the students supposed to check ...
That makes sense. Dd was balking at having to check her own work. Not that she does not have the time , she just does not want to do it. But, these last days she has been buckling down and doing it. This year has been a step up in independence and workload but she seems to be stepping up to the task...

Thanks, Lucy for chiming in and addressing my concern. I do believe I still have the invoice MFW sent when they sent my package.

Re: Schedules for ctg and K???
Thanks Chelle, that helps to see how others actually orchestrate their day. It has been a big struggle trying to find time for my K student. The reason being is that when it would seem that my other children should be doing their independent work and I have time to work with my kindergarten child, e...

Re: CTG/ECC for grandkids
So glad everything is going so well for you with your 3 boys. We will start CTG and MFW K next week.
Excited that you get to do ECC with your grandchildren, too. My SIL is using my ECC stuff this year with her kids and her kids seem to really enjoy it.
What an awesome grandma you are!!!

Re: I actually pushed the button.... no turning back..
Thanks Inhisglory! My pride tells me that I need to have my daughter be just as advanced or more advanced than her counterparts in public school or private school. Sometime I feel like I have to prove something being that I am a homeschool mom. I need to keep this in check. I have to remember the wh...

Re: I actually pushed the button.... no turning back..
Thanks ladies for the encouragement! I am really excited to use this with my dd. I am sure my older dc,especially my 3rd grade dd will want to participate in some of the science and crafts as well. My older ds who loves Science is more excited about the butterfly garden and ant farm than my daughter...

I actually pushed the button.... no turning back..
I pushed the enter button on my order last night to MFW. I ordered MFW K. It's official. Now I am not only going to have a child using AHL, and 2 children in CTG, but I decided to have my youngest use MFW's K instead of my normal route K curriculum. My finger hovered over the enter button for a whil...

Re: YWAM Christian Heroes: Then and Now
We have only read the ones in the MFW ECC package and also right now as a family we are reading Corrie Ten Boom ( better for a more mature audience), but my all-time favorite is Gladys Aylward, and coming in close second, George Mueller. Of course we have only read just a fraction of the ones you li...

Re: Rosetta stone? Is it on sale or is this their new price
Well, the verdict is in. After showing my children both programs, and doing the demos of each, the kids and I really like RS better. I had not viewed their demo until just about an hour ago and was really impressed. I think it will keep my kids' attention much more than VL and I also think at this m...

Re: Rosetta stone? Is it on sale or is this their new price
Thanks Crystal!! Okay, I am in a dilemma today because I'm on the fence between buying RS using MFW's lesson plans or buying Visual Link Spanish whose sale ends today. I have not heard hardly anything negative about VL, but have heard mixed reviews about RS. I like the idea of RS because of the MFW'...

Re: MfW AHL condensed Audio Fagles Iliad???
Thanks Lori! Actually I was really nervous about both of the Homer books when I first looked at them. Last night, however, I stayed up into the night, reading the AHL lesson plan book where it lays out who the characters are and some of the background and then I picked up the Iliad book and it did n...

Re: Knowing that you will be biased toward MFW...
Thanks Jen, any information helps. I do know that the book list for MFW is pretty extensive at least in ECC, the whole back section of the book being devoted to just that. We love the library and have a pretty good library system so I love to have lots of ideas for great books in the manual. Thanks ...

Thanks Trustinghim for that explanation. I guess it would be wiser then, in my case to just go ahead with CTG instead of jumping up to Exploration-1850. I just needed to hear the explanation as to why it would be better to start there. You did a good job convincing me of that. I appreciate your resp...

Thanks Julie for all of those helpful tips that I never really even thought to do. I'm sorry, I did not type it out right, but this year (her 7th grade year) we are using ECC. Next year if dd joins the rest of the family for MFW (I had thought of having her work on her own history) she (we) will be ...

Just finished reading Bruschko and Peace Child
from the 7th and 8th grade ECC supplement. I just finished Peace Child tonight and Bruschko about 5 days ago. I loved both of them. They were so inspiring and clearly showed the awesome power of God to totally transform lives and minds of individuals steeped in a pagan culture. Tomorrow, if time all...
