Re: MFW K & 1st, MFW science

Thanks for that link to the workshop! Are there any others? It's very encouraging to hear something like that, even on a different topic.

The high chair is a good idea, too!

Thanks,

Re: Switched-On Schoolhouse

Amanda, that was very encouraging to hear! You sound just like me but more calm and at peace. It's good to remember that the kids are learning things they wouldn't by being around the baby all day. Another good thing for us is that we will be doing ECC again. In fact, that's what I think about every...

Re: Scheduling input and schooling with new baby

Be flexible if you're not ready to get back to school so soon. I couldn't have done it when my baby was 3 weeks old, but she had colic. I'd rather have a shorter summer than have to do school on no sleep or a colicky baby or hormones or whatever may be going on. :)

Re: Rosetta Stone too difficult for my 2nd grader -curriculu

Thank you! That's a very good idea. I will do that for my son now and for my daughter when she starts back with RS.

Re: Rosetta Stone too difficult for my 2nd grader -curriculum?

Thank you! These tips will help my 3rd grader for the rest of this year and my 2nd grader next year. I talked to her about it, and even knowing she can look at the answers and all that, she wants to wait until 3rd grade to do more RS. So maybe we'll get the Mahoney books just for fun or something. T...

Re: Rosetta Stone too difficult for my 2nd grader -curriculu

Thanks! Lots of good responses to reply to. We have the voice recognition turned off. When we did have it on, it was set to easy. It quite often didn't recognize either of my kids' voices. I called RS about it, and they said there's nothing else that could be done except wait for their voices to mat...

Re: What's a teacher/mom to do? -- perfectionism & tears

She's definitely a perfectionist and feels like she has to get things right the first time. When she was preschool aged, she used to cry about something she couldn't do perfectly, then go in her room for an hour or two and teach it to herself (undisturbed), and then come out all proud of herself, sh...

Re: Rosetta Stone speech recognition + stopping points

Thanks! My kids are on the full path. It seemed like the right thing to do for a school year. Well, we'll keep it up. My daughter seems to be ok with turning off the speech recognition now. She's a complete perfectionist, so skipping to the next question was just not an option. My son is actually th...
