Precious K moment today

We're on E - Elephant in K and I asked my son "what are some things God has done for you?" as the teacher's guide suggests. He said, "God gave me a heart to love Him." I think the whole program is worth it just to hear those precious words come out of his mouth. Thanks MFW for guiding us as we teach...

Re: Not sure where or when to start...

My 3 year old sits in with my 5 year old for K, but would definitely not be able to do it as a curriculum. Although she knows her letters, colors, counting, etc, there is too much fine motor skills and I don't think she comprehends the weekly Biblical theme. It's much better designed for a 4.5-6 yea...

Re: Starting K Early

My son just turned 5 last week and we're already on the cow unit. He loves it. It's at an appropriate level for him. We're going to slow down for the holidays and take time for more crafts, etc. It's been the perfect fit. Do what's best for your family! I was reassured last week when we were leaving...

Re: leaves

We, too, pressed & glued them to paper. We put them in page protectors and they're doing well. You could also just do the craft where you put them in between two pieces of wax paper with crayon shavings & melt it with the iron (make sure you put something under the craft and not just over it. I mess...

Re: Suggestion for Kindergarten math

It's okay if you decide to also do a math curriculum. We've chosen to do a math curriculum and take it slow. We'll do half of it this year (K) and half of it next year in 1st. It helps me stay accountable and know that I'm doing small steps daily with my son. We focus on the manipulatives so that it...

Re: Question on reading for K

I just ordered the Kindergarten curriculum this morning and was wondering if it would be better to start from scratch with MFW reading program. He knows all his letters and their sounds, so I don't know if he'd be bored reviewing all that again or not. My son knows all of his letters & sounds, but ...

Hymns

We just started the K creation last week. We finished up the Creation notebook yesterday. My son LOVES it! And we also spent around 30 minutes. I am so grateful to God for showing us MFW. I probably wouldn't have started teaching the kids hymns so regularly, but they both love singing This Is My Fat...

Re: Compare MFW ?

I am not a long time user, so keep this in mind. In comparing preschool programs...my son loved reading the PreK books. However, I don't think he actually learned a lot in the way of skills. When doing MFW preschool, he's gained so much. I thought at first they were just toys, but there was SOO much...

PreK stuff

How is is set up? I am looking at the preK package. I bought the PreK Toy package & am so pleased with it. It's very laid back in that you can do whichever pieces you want to do whenever you want to do them. However, there are very specific activities that I would have NEVER thought of doing with m...

Work it off

Our library will let you "work off" your fine...perhaps you can read for a children's story time or something like that?
Just an idea!

YES! We bought it for our son when he was 3. Now he's 4 and our daughter is 2. They love playing with the items together, especially the number peg set. I also watched two children this summer ages 7 & 3. Both of them loved the "toys" too. I was surprised at how thorough the booklet [now Activity Ca...
