Re: Need ideas for "Badges" for Kindergarten

Our classroom is our dining room. We did the wall train. I found a cute engine picture, colored it, taped it up. Then I made a bunch of copies of the engine's wheels. For each unit, I have DS draw a pic on an index card, I write the words on it, we glue the wheels on and then tape it up to our train...

Julie,
Thanks for sharing that. It gives me some insight to my own 5yo son.

Re: # 9 - Octopus

I hope I can get this to work. These are pics my sister-in-law took of the octopus they "caught" when looking for shells in FL. (I did check with her before posting. ;) ) I think it's neat to show how it changed colors to camouflage itself. We printed them out and have them on our wall for this unit...

Re: Pencil, Marker, Does it matter?

Just be careful of them coloring with markers. DS took a black marker to one of his picture sheets and now we can't see the pic. He was trying so hard but the pic was small.
I've now resigned him to colored pencils only when doing worksheets.

Re: Kindergarten questions

Thanks for all the organization ideas. I'm trying to decide between putting everything in page protectors and just using the file folders system where I would have a file folder for each topic with the unused worksheets in it and then once its done, well then it has the done worksheets in it. lol M...

Re: Kindergarten questions

We are only starting K (just finished unit 4), taking our time. I have decided I want to get a binder with page protectors for his completed sheets and any pics he draws. I have a sketch pad that I have him draw some things in. For the picture cards, we use an index card box - only because that's wh...

kindergarten books

I've got a question about the kindergarten recommended reading list from the main MFW website. What if these books have been checked out at my library on the week that I need them? Am I thrown for a loop in the teacher's manual? Can I pull something else? :~ Thanks! Bev What I've been doing is look...

Re: Introduction - Creation

Awesome book for creation - helped DS grasp the concepts and remember the days. I am hoping to add it to our book collection.

Re: Reading comprehension for K

Thank you all so much! I am so blessed to have found such a board - mamas (and dads) who lift you up and encourage you. Thank you! We did start K this week with the full intention of taking things slow. Our goal is to be through K by next summer (2010). So I know I don't have to hurry. I guess I'm p...
