Re: Rosetta Stone Companion CDs??

Julie,

I did go ahead & load the CD and it does look like they are using 1 disk now. You can load on your MP3 or just listen on the computer. It looks like all 5 levels are on there. Anyway, thanks for responding.

Blessings,
Susan

Re: help with High School

Like you, I felt unsure last year when I purchased AHL. I have a son that's not a big reader so I wasn't sure if he could handle it. Well we just finished a couple of weeks ago and I'm very pleased with the results. One thing that helped is that I purchased The Illiad book on CD on the bargain table...

My 8th grader did CTG

I just wanted to say that my 8th grader did CTG this past year and will begin AHL for 9th. I didn't want it to end up of this way but it did. But what I decided is that it may help to do Ancients again at the high school level since it will be familiar to her and she can focus more on the other subj...

Writing in High School

Please give me an overview of the focus of the writing in each year of high school. Are the instructions on how to write detailed enough for reluctant writers and mom's who are weak in composition? We are just about to finish AHL so I can only comment on the first year of HS. My son is definitely n...

Rosetta Stone Question (Used software)

I have a friend who offered to let us borrow her Rosetta Stone Level 1. I'm not sure how it works so I was wondering if it's a one-time use per your own family or would I be able to load it on my computer as well? I found the answer to my question on the Rosetta Stone website-- it can be loaded on ...

Re: 1st day with AHL...not so good.

The first week was tough for us as well. We've homeschooled from the beginning but the high school material had a different feel. We're now in week 6 and he's doing fine. It is challenging for him as I guess it should be. I sat with him the first week or two just to get him started. Now he works on ...

The Cat of Bubastes Free Audio

Postby hsmom3 » Tue Aug 17, 2010 12:55 pm We're in week 6 of AHL and my son started The Cat of Bubastes this week. He's not a big reader so I thought I'd read the first two chapters with him to get him interested. The chapters were long! I knew he'd get bogged down with reading long chapters so I w...

Re: magazine subscription

Focus on the Family Clubhouse Jr. magazine would probably be a good one for that age. It has good stories and lot of other interesting things to read & do.

Re: RTR Putting together the Medieval Castle

The kids helped cut some of the pieces but assembling it was tough for them. It's been a few years since we did it but I used double sided tape. It worked pretty well. I would fold the pieces of tape in half longs ways to fit the tab pieces. I ended up doing most of the work and it did get frustrati...

Re: Apologia HS Lesson Plans

Crystal,

I do need to buy the books so price wise it would probably be good to go with MFW. That way I'd have everything all together in one book.

Thanks for your help!

Re: High School--Need help!

Thanks for your responses. I just spent the last few hours at a homeschool skate day talking to a fellow homeschooler and she said why not get the books on tape. That's what you guys are saying too. For some reason I thought that would be "cheating". I don't know why I felt that way but now I feel m...

Thanks for all the wonderful posts. It makes me feel so much better that other struggled through the first module as well. You know, I really should order the CD. That would probably help alot. Then maybe he could read/listen on his own and then narrate what he learned. I also realized after the fir...

Questions about CTG

Thanks so much for your replies. I have decided I will stick with MFW and start CTG for our new school year. We've had such a great year and it only makes sense to continue. I just needed a little encouragement-THANKS!

ECC Experience

We only have 10 more weeks in ECC and we have really enjoyed it. My kids (2nd,3rd,4th grades) have learned so much and so have I! We made the passports out of the green file folders-looked real official- and the kids liked it. And of course we had to fly or take a train to each new country. Our favo...

Choosing - CTG or American History?

I have thoroughly enjoyed using ECC this year and will be finishing up in a few months. I had planned to continue with CTG but am concerned about a few things. My children will be 3rd, 4th, & 5th grades next year. I've read that it's best to teach US History to lower elementary so they know their ow...
