Re: ECC parent supplement
Thanks Julie! We did ECC 2013-14 and I'm pretty sure I upgraded my TM then. I'm making my shopping list for next year, but I haven't pulled the old books out of storage yet

Re: Writing Skills for Today
Thanks Julie! We never wrote in Writing Strands but I looked at both samples more closely and it looks like it will be easier to use this as a fill-in-the-blank workbook.

Posted by Winkie » Fri Mar 21, 2014 12:50 pm This is our 9th year homeschooling and 9th year with MFW. When I first started researching homeschooling, I learned about the different approaches such as classical, CM, unit studies, etc. Then I requested a bunch of catalogs from different curriculum co...

Re: Handwriting question
All the levels from ADV on up schedule 3 weeks of handwriting review at the beginning of the year. I imagine there would be lots of online sites where you could print a page of the alphabet in cursive to use as a template. The Cursive Connections book says it is "modern style" cursive.

Re: Need Saxon help
Thank you. We muddled through today and he did ok. He's a strong reader so he may end up preferrIng to read the lesson over the DIVE but we'll try both to start. I like the idea of having him do all the tests & problems in a notebook so I can save the book for my next 7th grader.

Re: General Science supplies
Just to report on my successes: At Wal-Mart I found alum with the spices - I also checked with the canning jars but it wasn't there. They also had plaster of Paris in the crafts aisle. But they only had povidone-iodine, so I got pure iodine at Walgreens. I had trouble finding a piece of cork which i...

Thanks for the tips, Sue!
Okay, we've got driveway rocks. I was thinking limestone was something special. Obviously I haven't looked at the lessons closely.
Thanks so much!

I have EXP1850, and it's in week 1 of the 2nd/3rd grade supplement. -Trish Yep, there it is. I don't know how I missed it. I guess because there isn't a student sheet for it and it's not mentioned in the notes. I don't have a 2nd or 3rd grader this year, so I wasn't really reading the supplement gr...

Re: Singapore Math question
Thanks ladies! I was feeling a bit brain-dead that day to solve the problem myself. Probably why I use the Answer Key most of the time to check their answers ;) Besides I find it much faster to skim a column of numbers than to think through the math myself, even when it's easy. I have caught a few m...

Re: when do you plan?
I plan on Thursdays, usually right after my boys finish their schoolwork while all the books are still out on the table. I check for any supplies or groceries needed for the following week, so I can pick them up over the weekend, when we tend to be out running errands anyway. I also order my library...
