Posted: Tue Jul 08, 2008 7:07 pm My dc really liked Cameron Townsend (more that I did!) I read the older kid (junior high) bios myself (loved them all). It is interesting to me that it was mentioned about "protecting our children" earlier in the thread, and we all will do what we feel is best for o...

My husband, this past spring, gave us the task of making a nature file on the computer (this will take years:)). He wanted us to go out and take digital pictures and identify all the plants on our property (we live on acreage like you described). We then identify what the plant is and label the plan...

Posted: Fri Jun 06, 2008 8:05 am I agree with Niki that the prismacolors are more vivid, but I have to say that ours do not last longer (we also have Crayola and Prang). When we sharpen the prismacolors the colored lead breaks off *very* often. I've tried all sorts of different sharpeners, but it s...

Bible & Character training is included!

Posted: Tue Aug 14, 2007 9:37 am You'll be pleased to know that your character training is on it's way :) (saw your other post). I'm sure others will chime in with more specifics, but I wanted you to know MFWK is full of character training. Just a quick funny, but the "I don't quit, I persevere " (...

Idea for Week 2....Wednesday

I thought I'd pass along a sort of "impromptu" addition we did to RTR week 2 on Wednesday. After reading the short text in Streams "The Power of Public Speaking," I asked ds (12 going into 7thgrade) if he'd like to plan and give a speech in hopes of swaying us to his side. His eyes literally lit up....

Book Lists in MFW Guides - There are oodles of books

There are oodles of books in the book list! What books do you use for your child's reading time? Do you use the book basket books for reading instruction and practice? That's right. The books in the Deluxe pkg. will be the scheduled read-alouds. Also, the "readers" can very well come from the book ...

Book Reviews & Extras - American Girl?

Do you recommend the American Girl series? My dd really enjoyed this series of books when we went through Adventures. We've been using stickers and stamps, too. One more thing I've been doing with him (after passing number 10) is to have him circle ten things (stickers or whatever) and that shows him that 15 (for example) is ten plus five more.

Yes, I'm sort of "notebooking" K with my ds. I'm simply using a 3-ring binder and page protectors. When w...
