Posted: Tue Aug 08, 2006 11:02 am I used I Can Do All Things last year with my children. The older two were 6 & 8, the youngest was. I bought two books for the older two thinking my youngest wouldn't be interested. Boy, was I WRONG. She ended up doing every lesson with them, but worked in a blank s...

Enjoying MFWK

Posted: Wed Dec 20, 2006 3:32 pm We're on lesson 12 of K. It has been such a wonderful year for us. My daughter is thriving and starting to read books (short vowels and sight words, but books none the less). She LOVES to do school and is having a ball. I'm loving that it doesn't take a ton of time,...

We're doing ECC this year (and 1st). I think your schedule looks good. I have noticed, though, that it takes us longer than 15 minutes to do Bible and some of the other activities. Science takes a very long time because they love to draw. Geography has taken us 25 min, plus book basket. I guess we'r...

Thanks for all of the great replies! I think I'm going to get 1B to do with my daughter over the summer. That'll give me a good idea of how it works for us. She struggles so much with concepts, maybe this is just what she needs. My son, though, could probably do Singapore by himself and do great! Th...

We have done Adventures and part of MFW 1st this year (we're on day 49 of 1st and have 1 week left of Adventures). We do all of the science in Adventures. For the 1st grade science, I have my daughter read the book to me for reading practice, or I'll read it to her sometimes. She narrates it back, b...

My DD is 6 also and is doing MFW 1st after whizzing through MFWK. She can read very well... chapter books on a 2nd grade level, but I'm doing all of the phonics in 1st with her anyway. It's helping her in 2 ways (and probably more): 1- she reads great in context, but sometimes misses words when they...

We are on week 15 of Adventures. It keeps getting better and better! This is the first year we haven't been totally wiped out and burned out on school. I don't even feel we need a break for Christmas! It's such an enjoyable part of our day! We're also doing MFWK and that's been very easy to integrat...

There have been so many good responses that I don't have much to add. You mentioned something about carrying the burden for all of the schooling. Something I have learned over time is that the Lord has all the burden for that. I just need to be faithful to do what He has called me to do. He is the o...

I'm LOVING Adventures!

Posted: Wed Sep 13, 2006 3:44 pm
I just wanted to say how thrilled I am with Adventures. This has been our easiest & best school start we've ever had! The kids were so dreading starting back, but now they're looking forward to school every day. What a blessing this has been!

I'm Michelle wife to an awesome dh and mom to 3 amazing children. A is 5, TJ is 3(he'll be 4 in a month!) and C is 18 months. DD is reading at about a 2nd grade level. So it will be mostly the "fun" stuff in the activity guide. I'm planning to start the 10 day creation unit on Monday. Thoughts? Enc...

We've just started using Adventures and MFWK and we LOVE IT!! We've done a few other things but nothing was quite right for us. This is the perfect balance of reading, crafts, Bible lessons, EVERYTHING! This is our 5th year homeschooling, and it's the best year so far by far. It allows me to still h...
