Re: a child that does not fit....

I might compromise, but I don't think I'd figure a child knows what's best for them to the extent that I'd change her whole schooling around. Yep- that was what I was thinking, but wanted to make sure I was not being unreasonable! Thanks ladies! Yes, I will give her time to explore more of her own ...

Re: Kingdom Tales- Wow, what book!!

We love this series! I was so excited when I saw MFW was using them. I have them all, but I want to get this set with the questions, because I know there is so much more I could get from them.

Great Year with RTR

We are just starting Week 6 of RTR with our family. I just wanted to say it has been great so far. I was a little concerned when I saw so many people not liking Augustus Caesar's World, but my kids have loved it. They are really liking making the models, and it has just been a good beginning. Thank ...

Re: help with K

I am stuck in a pattern I need your help getting out of. I purchased MFWK for my ds5 and promptly started the day he turned five. It became clear that he was not getting it, so I put the curriculum away. Between then and now(8 months latter) I purchased another LA curriculum and a Phonics program a...

How complicated are the Activities & supplies?

Posted: Sat Apr 14, 2007 12:12 pm The activities done in MFW reinforce the learning and are not busy work. For example in K while you are learning about the moon you are learning that the M says /m/. You learn that like the moon we have no light of our own, but our light comes from the light of the...

I did this unit for camp this year. As a special treat for the kids - ages 2 to 6- we read the lonely firefly and made fireflies. We took a sheet of craft foam and cut heart shapes for the wings- glue those on top of a glow stick. Glue wiggle eyes to the end without the necklace. Thats it, break it ...

How long does Singapore take to complete every day

How long does Singapore take to complete every day. And MFW starts using it after MFW1st, correct? Yes you use Singapore after 1st in MFW. We use it all the way through because we love it here. It takes about 30-40 minutes a day to complete -- doing textbook, work with me, and workbook. If they kno...

Schedule - What if our day is too SHORT?

What do you do ALL day? My kids are early risers. Up by 7 the latest. If we eat and do school we'll be done about 9 or 10, right???? That leaves an awful long amount of time so can you explain to me what your day was like in K? Well, I have 1 using K now- of course she has older siblings so that ma...

Choosing K vs 1st - Why is MFW-K not to be missed?

I am still lurking around and trying to decide what to do next year. I have seen alot of posts saying that k should not be missed but no explanation why. My ds would probably be inbetween k and 1st if I went with MFW. I do not want to put him ahead of his grade level. Part of my hesitation is by th...

Crystal- I just don't want to hold him back in all other areas if the phonics does not click with him. Does that make sense? I have never used a curriculum where everything is inter related with the phonics. It is kinda scary. I am quite sure he will love everyting else about the program.
