Re: High School Teacher's manual

The first year (AHL) I copied the grids and put them in a half-inch binder. I also copied the grade sheets and placed them in there too. My student had the manual always with the binder to read any notes for that day. The second year(WHL) I let her write in the manual. I decided I'd bite the bullet ...

Re: WHL-Experiencing God

Lisa, I appreciate your comments. Thanks for sharing so honestly about how it is going with your son. I really do understand, but will refrain from going into a tangent. How thankful we can be for the time that we've been able to have with them at home. I like the scripture that reminds me that his ...

WHL grading maps

For those who are currently working through Year 2 of high school (or have already done it), I am wondering what ideas you have for grading the maps which will count toward 1/4 credit of Geography. As I'm working to figure out what rubric to use for grading the 24 maps, I thought I'd ask those who'...

Re: AHL- Iliad-daily responses

Thanks to all you responders. :-) I especially appreciate your explanation Dawn. My dd has gotten through a couple days and it seems to be fleshing out just fine. She seems to be doing ok with the material and responding to it. As an aside, I bought the audio book also. After reading through line 76...

You made a great choice!

Posted: Thu Aug 10, 2006 12:04 am I absolutely agree with Connie who said "the lay out is more doable and gentle." It is structured and well-thought out; you will not be dissappointed in your choice. I moved to My Father's World because I was looking for a curriculum that would better fit for teach...

Jump rope!

One FUN thing we are doing with the Bible verses is jumproping to them in our living room; it is a hoot, especially when the 7-year old tries and falls down in hysterics. :-)

Week 5: Notebook-map of Middle East

Posted: Mon Oct 02, 2006 11:54 pm I thought making the map of the "Middle East Today" sounded challenging so I got my tracing paper out and traced the map on pps. 44-45 of ECC's Illustrated World Atlas, which is the map of South West Asia, and then I had to add on Egypt. It's an o.k.ish looking map...

RTR & coordinating the human body study with Apologia

I am planning to use Apologia's General Science for my 7th grader. I also have an 8 and 10 year old who will be doing MFW's scheduled science. I have read posts archived from last year related to changing Apologia's module order to coincide the human body study with MFW's body study during the first...

Engligh from the Roots Up

Tina, I know you already got great advice. I just thought I'd share that I am quizzing my kids at the end of the week with a written list of the definitions and they need to write the root next to it (with all the words they've learned so far). (Will adjust the # of words I suppose as the list grows...

Bible - Memory work ideas

We are beginning week 7 of CTG. I am enjoying learning this part of history! And Dad is helping by reading the Bible (gotta love Dad being involved). One FUN thing we are doing with the Bible verses is jumproping to them in our living room; it is a hoot, especially when the 7-year old tries and fall...

Re: Definitions - when to write them, when to look them up

Thank you Crystal and Julie! Your posts helped; I understand it better now. So much I'm trying to process as I'm planning for the start of CtG in a few weeks! Wondering if anyone had experience doing this with multiple children? I have a 7.5 dd, 9.5ds, 11.5dd whom I will be using the program with an...

Re: Creation to the Greeks

I so appreciated Julie's post! I have thoroughly enjoyed our first year using MFW's ECC with my 11dd, 9ds, and 7dd; it's been a great curriculum for our family. I just loved the content, but have wondered what CTG would be like for us; I've wondered if it would not be "as good" (I LOVE ECC!). Julie,...
