Hymn ideas for MFW K topics?
The children are loving learning the My Father's World hymn (they learned Amazing Grace and a couple other hymns last year) . I'm just curious if anyone continued singing hymns throughout the K year to correlate with each weekly topic. So far I plan to teach them "Take my life and let it be" for th...

Re: New to MFW; is this normal?
Sounds about right for the first few weeks. (I did 1st and ECC last year). I agree with above posts that it picks up as you go through the year so, enjoy your "shorter" days while you can

Best way to organize student sheets?
I'm having a hard time keeping the student sheets (two sets of ECC and one first grade) organized. What's the best way to keep everything organized and close at hand? I 3 hole punch them and put them in a binder, one for each student. For the 1st grader, after they completed the page I just stuck i...

Re: How do you teach first and ECC at the same time?
I also forgot to mention my 1st grader sat in on Window on the World. At the beginning of our year I attempted to combine them but a couple weeks in and it just was not working for us :( Things went much more smoothly and less hectic when I did them separate. On a "perfect" day (haha, yeah right!) s...

How do you teach first and ECC at the same time?
I just received our books, and we are really excited to start next week (we school year round). Reading through the teacher's manuals, I'm kind of confused as to how to do the 1st grade curriculum if my first grader is also supposed to be joining in with My fourth grader doing ECC. What does a day ...

Re: with a Biblical World view.....
I hope I understand your question correctly. We are finishing up ECC. We have used MFW since our oldest started in K. I have already order and received CtG and have spent a fair amount of time going through the manual etc. I cannot speak for MFW directly but, I believe a Biblical worldview is to loo...

Re: Just ordered CtG!!
Just to update: Our package arrived on Monday. We barely made it through dinner when the kids and I couldn't stand it any longer and ripped open the box LOL. The books are awesome. DS (9) grabbed the Dinosaurs of Eden book and spent the rest of the evening going through it. DD (6) was mostly interes...

ECC wk 11...MAF plane
We did that MAF plane project a few weeks ago. I told ds he would have to wait until Daddy got home to help him put it together. It took them 45 mins - to an hour to get it together!! Apparently it was worth the effort though ds still has it hanging in his room. And a week or so ago one of the neigh...

Starting late
:~ So we won't be starting Adventures until October. Is it laid out at all with understanding Holidays at all? Like close to Thanksgiving they start learning about that? Has anyone started late before and did you adjust to not be off with learning about that kind of stuff? Does this make sense? The...

I was going to try EBAY. There are sellers that sell in lots. Some are very reasonably priced.kacairo1 wrote:ECC suggests collecting cancelled stamps as a way to help learn geography. Re: Rest time
I have an 8,6,4, and 1 year old. My 1 year old naps from 12:30-3:30pm. My 4 year old rests (occasionally naps) from 12:30-1:30. My 8 and 6 year olds do not have a "rest time" per say. They take short breaks while I do one on one work with the others. (maybe 15 mins or so). They have their "free time...

Re: Good Books on Homeschooling for Parents
Just wanted to chime and agree with the others that I love Homeschooling with a Meek and Quiet Spirit by Terri Maxwell. What is on the sheets? We like to take pictures of the kids holding one of their favorite projects. We let them pick a special lunch(usually they pick McDonalds 8| ). That's about how long it took my ds 7 to copy the Proverbs verses when we started, but we are about 100 days in and he seems to be moving a little faster.
