Re: What are your plans for 2018-2019?
I just finalized what we are doing for next year. We are still on summer break until after our move next month. I ordered 1st grade for the last time for "the baby". And I also ordered US 2 for my oldest! Because of how we did her Jr high years she only needs Algebra 2 to graduate but will...

There are a few consumable items in each highschool year but the majority of the package can be reused each year.

Very Excited about the new WSFT! Do you know if they will make a change for 7/8th grade any time soon?
Also, what is the new recommendation for foreign language since I see RS isn't offered anymore?

Re: New School Year Hopes and Dreams
Why did you begin homeschooling and is it the reason you continue? I began homeschooling because my husband had just graduated from college and we knew we would be accepting a pastorate somewhere mid-year. We loved it so much we just kept doing it. I thought when we finally settled down somewhere we...

Re: Time doing AHL?
A different kind of answer. My DD takes about 5-8 hours to finish an AHL day
She moves slowly and prefers to "stretch school out all day." She starts around 9 and finishes around supper time. She could finish faster but she doesnt want to. Its not her style I guess.

Re: How to use teacher's guide schedules - what do you do?
One thing I do is write out everyones individual work for the week in my grid, in a different color. I love frixon erasable pens for this! Then I copy that grid in color and hand out to each kid! For my 7th grader part of his assingments are on a second page for the 7/8 supplement in ECC. So I copy ...

Re: Student Sheets
We use page protectors. I prefer to prepare the binders in advance and also look through the grid to see if there is any self created pages (mainly done in year 4 and 5) and add sheets for that. So we are pretty open and go. :) I just did that this weekend and we used about 500 page protectors for 5...

Just starting MFW with 7th, 5th, 2nd grade children
Hi all! I am considering using ECC next year for the first time with my 3 children. They will be in 7th, 5th and 2nd grade. I have read the info and that seems to be the recommended course to start with. I have concerns, though, that in 2 years, my oldest will start high school level without finish...

Re: Tentatively thinking about using MFW...lots of questions
Thirding using MFW LA suggestions. I think you will find them simple enough to implement and very CM! On Math, no suggestions here. But a testimony. When we started with MFW I looked at Singapore and was so scared by it! It didnt make any sense. I went with another company and we all did fine. We to...

Re: Read alouds vs. Independent reading
Phonics after 1st grade is covered by the Spelling suggestions like Tricia said. I also see a lot of instruction in the Language Lessons curriculum like there, their, and they're and too, to, two or adding "S" to make words plural. I choose to have my emergent readers read aloud to me 15 m...

I can share how "I" do more than one program together. Usually I start with the week before. I try to look over everything we have to do, get extra supplies (you know like cotton swabs or an ingredient we may not have), then I try to be sure all the student sheets are ready to go for the w...

BJU Press English
I noticed that from 2nd grade on I need to pick Lang Arts curriculum for my ds. Has anyone used BJU press 2nd grade English after doing MFW K and 1st? I am just wondering how the transition went. We are on week 9 of MOD and and 11 of 1st grade. Im giving my 1st grader a break from 1st. Note to Mama's considering starting K early, there will be a wall eventually. LOL. I should have waited or slowed K down. In Mod we are doing great. Taking a pretty even clip through it all. I wish I had more ...

Re: How much writing do I expect?
Depends on the child and the subject. 3 to 5 sentences for a third, grader should be good. We usual discuss and take notes after a reading and I ask my kids to,make their pages from that outline. So for my 3rd grader I would ask him to make each point a sentence. For my then 5th I would ask those sen...

Re: Planner Challenges
Different ideas...(I'm an idea person, so I like to give options..lol) 1. Write less into your planner. And initial and a lesson number is fine for record keeping. Example Jane does a lesson a day from the Singapore daily lesson plans, write J-1 then there is plenty of room per square. 2. Make 2 cop...
