Easy Grammar Ultimate Series

As we are finishing 8th and planning for 9th, I realize that if we have an area that we have fallen behind on it would be the MFW language arts recommendations. If my son has not completed Easy Grammar grade 8, will he possibly struggle with the high school MFW English program. He has completed the ...

Jacob's Geometry

Before we take the plunge and order, I'd like to know what support is available to Jacob's Geometry users? I've seen mentioned here,in older threads, that Mr. Jacob's is available by email. Is this the way of support for parents/ students with questions?
Thanks, Rox

Planning for 9th grade

Could someone please give me an idea of the parent's role in the high school years. I am considering declare for our 9th grader. How much time and effort is required for the parent to be informed/ prepared at the weekly informal discussions described in the catalog?

Re: ADV Weeks 28-29

The book Farmer Brown Shears His Sheep: A Yarn About Wool by Teri Sloat is a fun picture book that fits this week.
Also, I feel is beautiful how Mountain Born follows the Bible theme of Jesus the Good Shepherd.

Thanks for this thread. We have become book nuts and I'm always looking for titles. Here is one of our favorites: Many of the poems go nicely with MFW k and 1st.

Beneath a Blue Umbrella
by Jack Prelutsky

This author has other titles I'm looking forward to getting.

We enjoyed a local birding festival. We got to go on a pretend bird migration and see many birds on display. The local news paper was there and took a picture of the boys at an exhibit. The paper published the picture of the boys and a quote from me about our homeschool study of birds. I was especia...

We made a mini volcano today using tooth paste, a cup and sand. Take a 6 to 8 oz styrofoam cup, punch a hole into bottom. Insert paste tube into bottom of cup hole, fill cup with dry loose sand and squeeze the tube of tooth paste. The paste will ooze up through the sand causing a lava like flow. Red...

A CAMOUFLAGE ACTIVITY I wrapped the boys in extra patterned material left over from making curtains. I then stood them in front of the finished hanging curtains in the same material. I took their picture showing them how they were camouflaged against the same background. Very cute as all that really...

TALE OF THE POISONOUS YUCK BUGS by Aaron Reynolds supports the lesson of Proverbs 12:13.

Thoughtless words cut like a sword. But the tongue of wise people brings healing.

We also enjoyed John and Tom . Thanks to Sarah ( TX). One thing we did the boys really enjoyed was pretending to be a horse being guided with reins. I clipped a string to each arm of the t-shirt he was wearing. I then stood behind him while holding onto the "reins". I tugged on the left rein for him...

Yes, I do think he is a bit of a perfectionist. Maybe with a little more time and confidence in his abilities he will come out a bit with this art.
