Re: ADV student pages.. necessary? 1st grader

Postby Buttercup78 » Sat Mar 26, 2011 5:05 pm I currently have 1st & 2nd graders doing Adventures. The younger is the type who wants to do the same thing as the older, so yes, we definitely use the student sheets for both. I feel it was well worth it. And less work than trying to come up with somet...

Re: What would you purchase for ages 4, 6, & 8?

My children were 4, 5, 7 at the beginning of this school year. We are doing Adventures. My 5yo is doing Adv. with her own math & LA of course. It's going great. She does all the student sheets. For summaries, she tells me a short summary, I write it and she copies it. They both love Pioneers & Patri...

Re: Font ??

I actually downloaded a font online (can't remember where) called Penmanship Print. It has the lines at top and bottom and the dashed line in the middle. I use this for copywork so my kids can see how to place their letters on the lines.

Re: Just curious about some things...

We do not recite The Pledge of Allegiance. One, kids haven't learned it yet and two, it just hasn't come up. We try to school in the morning, but sometimes start after lunch. We do not have centers. We have a schoolroom with a large old dining room table but sometimes use our regular dining room tab...

Re: General Ideas for My Father's World From A to Z

WOW - I just found a series of books at my library called "My Sound Box Library" published by a company called "The Child's World". They have a book for each letter of the alphabet! The one I'm looking at is for the letter "g". It is called "My 'g' Sound Box" and in the story a little girl goes look...

Re: Pictures?

Sorry no pics BUT I can describe how I have my K stuff organized. I have a huge canvas 3-ring binder type notebook that zips the whole way around. Inside it has 2 separate zippered sections: 1st one is a big pocket (where I keep blend ladder, calendars, etc) and a small mesh pocket (where I keep ABC...

Re: Can someone explain K badges?

We got actual "badges" with pin backs at the craft store that open to insert about a 2" round circle. I personally made them on the computer with clipart and the verse and used a craft punch to make them the perfect size to fit in the badges.

Re: Lauri Toys - New contact info

Ahh, thanks, Lucy. I'm calling now. Ok, I spoke to a very nice lady there and told her the pieces I needed. She took my name and address and said they'd send them out! She did not ask for a replacement fee or postage or anything! Just wanted to update and let everyone know I received my puzzle piec...

MFW K Badge resource

I am making badges by printing out 2" circles and using badges bought at the craft store that open up to put the picture in. I found the majority of the pictures I needed on this site.

Aa Apple - Fruit poster

Posted: Wed Apr 16, 2008 10:44 am We didn't have any magazines around to cut out fruit and my 3yo who tags along with K can't draw real well, so I googled free clipart and found many coloring-book-type pictures of fruit. I copied and pasted them into a document, printed it out and had the kids colo...

Teaching - The routine is so easy!

We are finally on a *regular* schedule with K, and in the midst of the Aa Apple unit. I just want to say that when you get into a routine, it is just SO easy! We are enjoying it immensely. My 3yo does everything my 5yo is doing, it's amazing. Even my 18mo old was saying "a - a - apple" today! They l...

I use Homeschool Tracker which you can print transcripts from.

I used the page protectors in a 3-ring binder, each labeled with the appropriate letter.

We also got a lot of pamphlets from the Farm Show and other events like that.

If you can't find anything, there's always the internet!
