Re: Anyone not completed ADV?

We had to double up days to finish by mid May. At one point I thought if I couldn't do everything by mid May in Adventures, what would I want to get done? The 50 states. So if I didn't get caught up in doubling up days, I would have just finished the 50 states in the end with the 3R's and just quick...

Re: Anyone switched to MFW????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would pray about it for sure. I have 5 little ones from 8 to 1, and we are using Adventures in MFW. The start was tough, it was taking us a very long time to work through a day. Now we are getting done in 3-5 hours depending on how much extra help the kids need in math, LA's, etc. But we aren't do...

Re: What to do if chronically behind? *long*

I hate getting behind. I am one week behind due to illness a few weeks ago and it drives me nuts. So nuts that I figured if we didn't take any breaks for holidays we would be able to get done by mid May. By mid May my kids are DONE! LOL! ;) But I know that although we often break less then public sc...

Re: Johnny Cakes and Milk

We made them this week and the batter was very wet and they fell apart just awefull! ;) WE ended up eating the first two crumbly messes and then adding flour and baking powder, that helped out and they tasted about the same. ;) The kids love baking foods from differant time periods. ;) My husband......

This was great when sickness hit the house

As I started Adventures with Joshua and Abigail, I have added and followed small bunny trails and just been creative. My kids loved it and I was having fun too. Then for 3 weeks we battled a tummy bug that slowly hit all 5 children and myself. :( During this time we took half a week off here and hal...

Re: Achievement tests

WE do the Seton CAT test once a year bc in MN we are required to test. It is easy, last year Abigail got 0 wrong on the whole test. If our state did not require testing, I would not test.

Nature walk and what to assign?

I liked when there were suggestions in the teacher manual about what to suggest the kids to look for and sketch. When I give them "their choice" they end up wanting to draw anything they see, including picnic tables and cars and trash cans!! :-) Does it need to be something they see or can it be so...
