Day 5

Hi everyone :) We have had a lovely time with Ii insect this past week and a half. My dd has decided that though there is a definite "yuck" issue with bugs, they are also very interesting and fun to learn about. I wanted to share how we "celebrated" day 5. No specific insect is listed to study, so w...

We have been having a great time doing "Letter Detectives" for each unit. I made a poster with a sleuth picture and a big magnifying glass. I made a pocket to go underneath the poster out of a #10 envelope. For each unit, I cut out large colored circles and write the letter we are studying on them. ...

Making a Book

Hi :) Something we are really enjoying with each lesson is making a book at the end of each unit. We usually do it over two days (add it in to day 5 & day 6). We title them "My Book About _______" written & illustrated by ________. I sit down on day 5 with my dd and she tells me 9 or 10 things she h...

Creation Mural

For step 7 - the creation book - we did a mural instead, on the ceiling of our hallway! We hung banner paper there and illustrated the day and then attached each one to the banner. For day 1 - one sheet of white card stock half filled with black glitter, half filled with white glitter for light & da...

Hi Shauna :) We found a wonderful dvd by Leap Frog - the "Letter Factory". My dd watched it twice and had most of the letter sounds! It is really a cute movie, too. We found it at for $9 or so. I think you can also get it directly from Leap Frog.
Have a blessed day! WLIC, Quinne

Hi Kim :) I am homeschooling my 4.5 dd in MFWK and have a 7 mo ds. We are using a very flexible school schedule - doing several 20-30 minute blocks throughout the day and evening. It works well for my dd - and the baby, as he can usually play on a blanket near us for some of them :) This will have u...

a button jacket

Hi :) Here is something fun to do when you read the "a lost button" chapter in Frog & Toad Are Friends... We will be making a "button jacket" just like Toad did for my dd to wear. The jacket is going to be a surprise project, so I won't tell her about it - just that each of the following things we w...
