I didn't read all of the responses, but is it ok that I giggled when I read that he put X's on things when upset? That was just funny to me. :o)
I'm sure it would get frustrating, though!

Re-trying Writing Strands
Posted: Mon May 12, 2008 12:33 pm Well...we, too, set down Writing Strands (3) because my 12yo dd didn't care for it. I purchased another writing program, and she has been doing pretty well with it. After I read something Crystal had said, though, I just couldn't get my mind off of it (Holy Spirit ...

Well, I love Lanie's idea. I'm going to try a few in a minute. I love doing neat stuff like that. I wonder if I can just make the border and the word at the same time? I don't know if they sell pastel cards. I don't remember seeing those. Ok, I won't stress it. I'm the type that likes things done ne...

Read-alouds - Are there narration ideas or discussion questi
I am almost ready to take the leap and purchase RtoR. I just wanted to ask if the read alouds are discussed or mentioned in the manual or simply scheduled? I have looked at the samples of the curriculum and I was just wondering about the teacher's manual. What sort of notebooking or narration promp...

Crystal - Right...I would have her stay in the age range (middles). In fact, I only printed those pages to show her ;o). I'm going to guess that she will pick Holes (this is a book that she recently read and LOVED); and Prince Caspian (since we just saw and fell in love with the movie). I will keep ...

I printed these and made farm animal stick puppets. Scroll to bottom of page. I used cardstock to help them be more stiff.

Read-Alouds - The Children's Homer pronunciation help !
Now that we are finally getting into this book I just can't stand not knowing how to say some of these names! I mean, Achilles, Odysseus, Priam, and any other names in The Trojan Horse (or names I recognize) I can handle (there is a pronunciation guide to THAT little book--but not this one!). Please...

Preparation & Review - Remember the notes at the beginni
It sure helped me to review the notes at the beginning of the TM! I had been forgetting to do so many things with Creation To The Greeks. How awful of me! Marie really knows what she is talking about. It's almost like neglecting to read your Bible...you just start forgetting how wonderful it really...

Posted: Sun Nov 26, 2006 4:19 pm Spelling Power isn't hard. The book seems overwhelming if you read a ton of it, but not if you just go through the Quick Steps. Week 10: Chapter books

I found a book with a story about Brazil at the library for my 10yo. It's called Jaguar. I hope she likes it. It wasn't recommended by the Hazells, though. I forget how I found it.

It is a live web-cam of different places in Africa! Now, the only REAL "live" cam is of Nkorho Stream in Southern Africa...but it is sooo neat! 1st and ECC
We are doing 1st and ECC with no problems whatsoever. I have my 11yo doing ECC, and my 7yo doing 1st. The way we work it I am done teaching by noon. I start my 7yo at about 9:00 am and we work for 1 hour (anymore than that and she starts getting a dazed look). If the work is going to take longer tha...

Book Subs - Suggestions if we've already read some ECC books
I'm curious if anyone has used MFW books they've already read? We've already read Maps & Globes, Window on the World, and the book about Gladys Aylward. He's already very familiar with Wild Places and the Living World Encyclopedia. We have also read Hero Tales in the past but I don't think he remem...
