Filing Picture Cards

Just wanted to share an idea we are using. Instead of envelopes for the picture cards, I got a small file card box. I had a set of index card dividers and just file the picture cards behind the appropriate letter. The cards are paper clipped together just to make my life easier.

I tell them every time I help put on shoes or clothes. I always (or try) start with the left. "let's put your left arm in your sleeve. Now your right arm. Where's your left foot let's put it in your shoe." You might also write with a marker L and R on the respective hands. Or put a bandaid on one.

Usborne encyclopedias

Posted: Thu Feb 22, 2007 12:06 am Just wanted to put in my 2 cents. We didn't have an encyclopedia when we started K. I bought the Usborne Internet Linked Children's Encyclopedia. It is one book and covers most of the K topics at just enough to introduce the topic. Then there are links to games and...

You know, I think it depends on the temperament of your kiddos. Mine are 5, 4, and 19 months. During MFWK time I have my 5 & 4 at the table, or on the couch. The 19 month old likes to sit in my lap or stand on a stool and draw on HER paper (or mine, whichever is closer :) ). I have a box full of mat...

Re: Early reader

Thank you for your encouragement. I have actually thought about using the handwriting pages and I think it would be a great idea. Thank you for confirming my thoughts. DD loves to write, so I'm sure it will be fun to have her do some directed practice. We often take turns reading books. I'll start a...

I just want to add that starfall.com is a great, free way to supplement phonics. We haven't done MFW's reading program. We are getting ready to do MFWK but dd is reading fluently and getting to do starfall is a big, fun deal for her. Starfall has fun little videos and books for the kids to watch and...
