How much time do you spend homeschooling?

klewfor3 wrote:Hello again...just wanted to get a feel on how much time families spend doing Adventures in My Father's World. Our day normally starts off around 9am and we wrap up right around 11:30am. I have found that we follow the order of subjects that was recommended in the curriculum but don't necessarily follow the time alotments. We do our "read aloud" before bed...normally 20mins or so.

Of course I realize that it works differently for every family, but it still would be nice to hear how other manage their time...I am such a newbie to this homeschooling environment and am still hit with panic at the thought I might not be doing enough. :~
That's about how much time we spend on it as well.

2 - 2.5 hours for ADV plus read-alouds sounds right to me. It's enough. ;) Good job, Mom!

About 2 hours max, for Adentures, some days were a little lighter, though. Sounds like you are doing great!

I agree, we're between 2-3 hours for all 3 girls. Sometimes longer depending on attitudes ;) .

I'd say from 2-3 hours for ADV.. Actually if we are on the ball we can start at 8 or so, work till 10, take a half hour break and finish by 11-11:30. And Im doing CTG and have 3 students this year plus one doing 100 EZ lessons. Plus a toddler and a baby. :) I still dont understand how pp can stand doing 5-6 hours of school in a day. LOL.

We spend about 3 hours a day (with two girls in Adv), but this includes up to an hour of Charlotte Mason-inspired lessons ~ nature, handiwork, devotions, hymns, folksongs, poetry. It sounds like you are doing a great job! :-)

It takes us about 2-3 hour to do a complete schedule.
deltagal wrote:And how much of that time are you working directly with your child?
I spend most of it with her.

Our typical day looks like this:
Bible, Spelling, Vocabulary...about 20-30 mins
15 min Break
Math and Our History reading/work....about 30 to 45 mins
15 min break
Grammar, Science, Art...about 30-45 mins
She reads her reading book.
Latin and any read alouds....20 mins
Sometime later in the day I have her spend about 15 mins with the books in the book basket.
