Here are a few fun and simple ideas from our Pre-K TM for you to enjoy in December:
- Jesus Is the Best Gift – Early in December, if you have a nativity scene with baby Jesus, place that figure in a box and let your child wrap it. Place it under the tree or elsewhere in a central location. Talk about how Jesus is the best gift of all, and His birthday is Christmas. On Christmas, let your child unwrap the box with Jesus first, and place Him in the nativity scene. Happy Birthday!
Hot Cocoa and Shopping – Enjoy a special cocoa-sipping outing with just one child at a time. Then let him shop for Dad and siblings at the Dollar store.
Christmas Lights – Load up the car after supper, play Christmas music, and drive around looking at Christmas lights.
Happy Birthday, Jesus! – On or near December 25th, have a family birthday party for Jesus. Let your child help make and frost a birthday cake. Sing Happy Birthday to Jesus. Talk about what kind of presents Jesus would want. (gifts to Jesus as well as gifts to others) Option: Invite one or two people to your party who would otherwise be alone at the holidays.
